Mr. Leone explained these were opened for the PJ Caul Park upgrades. Motion carried 6-0. IX: New Business 1. Consider Action to Approve payment request #4 from Bronder Technical Services in the amount of $212,006.32 for the Merchant Street Streetscape project. Motion by Mr. Prentice. Second by Mr. Cafarelli. Mr. Cafarelli asked the status oft the streetscape schedule. Mr. Leone gave an update where the contractors are in the schedule. Mr. Leone stated Columbia Gas still has a few replacements to complete. Mr. Basalyga asked how has been paid sO far. Mr. Leone said the figure is $730,643.96 to date. $1,047,389.00 is the amount oft the work completed. The current invoice is for more materials. Mr. Leone added that there is a %10 holdback until the work is completed. Second by Mr. Prentice. Mr. Leone stated that these figures were completed and calculated by the Borough actuarial service, Mochenhaupt. Mr. Gill asked ifthe figures would be affected with the Fireman's contract. That would only effect future obligations. Mr. Askar reiterated these figures were completed by the actuary service, an independent third party. Mr. Gill asked who would get the money. The daughter, Kathey Klak is the executor oft the estate. Approve a feasibility study for Ambridge Borough Police Officers Part Time years ofs service Buy-Back toj paid for out oft the Police Pension Plan Fund. Mr. Gill asked what the purpose of doing the study and ifit would cost the Borough. Mr. Leone stated itv would be a cost to the pension plan, not the Borough. Public Safety Committee - Mr. Prentice will meet with both Chief's when their schedules permit. 2. Mayor's Report - A local business complained about the bus stop at 11th Street. Mr. Leone is currently looking into the matter to enhance the bus stop. Ifwe add a trash can it will be the Borough responsibility for empty the receptacle. Currently, Precision Laser has been taking care of 3. Code Committee - 177 inspections, 445 letters for code sweeps, 81 letters for the Merchant Street 4. Public Works Committee - Discussed lawn debris pickups and street sweeping. Also, getting ready for leaf pickups. The discussion continued regarding the dumpster for lawn debris being filled by residents with trees, brush, whole landscaping projects. The purpose was to be able to drop off their lawn clippings and small branches. Many residents are bringing whole trees down at a significant cost to the Borough. Many are leaving the debris outside the gate. Borough is looking to post signs and cameras in the Public Works area to curb residents from abusing this Borough courtesy. 5. Parks and Recreation Committee - Will meet on the 18th to discuss future developments for Henning Park. Getting ready for the Fall Festival of Churches on the 28th of September. 6. Engineer's Report - Still working with Columbia Gas and their evaluation of the Borough. Working on a street opening standard in place as well as a few other projects. Mr. Cafarelli asked ift there isa concern, what would be the process to pass information along to engineers. Mr. Slagle stated to call him directly and he will address the matter personally. He gave Mr. Cafarelli his cell number and 7. Solicitor's Report - Mr. Askar stated that he is working on the Glenwood property deeds. Working with the Fire Department and a few Code appeals that are currently in the Beaver County court system. Mr. Askar added it was a pleasure to bei in attendance when the Lt. Governor visited to announce the Main Street Matters Grant Program. A great showcase for the Borough. 8. Manager's Report - Mr. Leone thanked the business owners who welcomed the Lt. Governor and staff when he recently visited. Working with Tiger Paws, an organization that will dismantle blighted properties within the Borough at ai minimal cost. Public works is checking on a leak in the splash pad. The vendor has been notified.
