Petition for Abatement or Refund of Taxes; Abatement #: 23AR-026 Schedule #: 6514132; Lot 2 ESTES SUB: Owner: Sara Moore, Kevin Moore Lisa Eurich presented background on the property and how the appraiser came to their conclusion during the 2023 appeal period. Petitioners were not present. The Board posed questions on how the petitioners could hypothetically continue ini their appeal process ifit's denied here. Ms. Eurich confirmed that the petitioners could appeal today's decision to the Board of Abatements. Commissioner Pogue opened and closed the item without public comment. Summit County Board of County Commissioners' Regular Meeting Minutes of September 24, 2024 MOTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Mamula and seconded by Commissioner Waters to uphold the Assessor's Recommendation and Deny the Taxpayer's Petition for Abatement or Refund of Taxes. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY THE BOARD PRESENT B. A Second Reading of Summit County Ordinance No. 22: an Ordinance of Short Term Brandi Timm presented on the background for the potential regulations that would be put in place should the Ordinance be passed today. Ms. Timm also stressed that the properties affected by this Ordinance would only be a handful where the owners have been warned by County staff several times for past offenses and yet have been unable tol be contacted and shouldn't. affect the owners with current STRS licenses who have been responsible and communicative with County Rental (STR) Platform Listing regulations. Staff. Commissioner Pogue opened the item for public comment. Jim Oberider has been a homeowner and STR owner for many years and shared how STR Richard Mason referenced emails he sent to the BOCC regarding his concerns around this ordinance. He emphasized his concerns of the opportunity for error in platforms deleting STR listings accidentally. He expressed additional concerns regarding STR regulations in the owners support the local community. community in general. Todd Ruelle agreed with Richard Mason's comments and shared his worries around the lack of Sharon Ogle shared her concerns based on situations she's heard of in which at third-party platform inadvertently removed STR listings and the challenges reinstating listings. She also offered suggestions on how staff can work with homeowners not incompliance. Joelle Miller cited a situation with her STR guest and her concerns about listings being removed review and public feedback of current STR regulations. and challenges associated with restoring the lost reservations.
