She advised the Rec Centerwill host a' Youth CO-ED3-on-3 Basketball Tournament this weekend for 6th through 8th graders. She advised that when the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board met, the Bassmaster event contract had not been signed nor announced. But, since then, there has been ap public announcement and the event is scheduled for May 15th - 18"h, 2025. She advised the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board suggested funding for this event to come from the Convention and Visitors Bureau Reserve Fund. He advised the City had to work diligently to address approximately a $2.5 million deficit between International Paper, Invista closing and sales taxr revenue being down. He advised HOTfunds are as separate fund that does not operate from the generali fund. He thanked the Convention and Visitors Bureau for their hard work. He advised since sales tax and revenues are down, and there is al healthy reserve, that this is and opportunity to make some adjustments to support these entities. Bob Manning with the Historic Preservation Commission advised over the last year he feels the Commission has done a great job in focusing on items missing from the ordinances in order to have them rewritten. He advised there has been a lot of misconceptions as to what the Commission's role is in rewriting the ordinances. He advised that Mr. Goodson spoke to the Commission approximately two months ago, which made the Commission aware that the Texas Legislature has made a lot of changes that affect what the Commission can and can not do. He clarified they are not closing. He advised there is al building on the parcel that the City has the right oft first refusal, and this item will need tol be brought before the Council in October so that the Council can say yes to allow to sell as the City does not see a reason to re-purchase Mr. Goodson advised the right to refusal was put in place when the property was originally sold. He advised the Cityi is trying not tol hold up the closing next week soi the City will send al legal letter advising the City will move forward with a resolution and the Council will consider terminating the that building. right of refusal at the next Council Meeting. Mr. Kunst wished Jennifer Pool a Happy Birthday. CITY COUNCIL REPORT Mayor Pro-Tem Burch thanked the Historic Preservation Commission for their hard work. Council Member Hennigan thanked Code Enforcement, Public Works and First Responders. Council Member Childs advised he feels like the stopl light atl MLK and Hwy 87 sequence is off. He requested that City staff ask TxDOT to do at traffic study. He advised he agrees with the lady that spoke earlier during citizen comments about the trees needing to be trimmed. Council Member McKenna advised she is grateful for everyone attending the meeting. Mayor Spears thanked everyone who attended the meeting. He advised October is a new fiscal year begins, which will be different. He advised he appreciates Staff and he knows that he may have ruffled some feathers of some that might be on the Boards by making changes to who gets what, but the Cityi is in a situation where the City has got toi find opportunities for us to do the work for ourselves. He advised we are the citizens and different organizations are trying to bring in events and money and it is one of the things that he thinks we need to take advantage of and ifit does not work, it does not work. He advised he thanks Council for their support.
