CITY OF DENTON After determining that a quorum was present, the Community Services Advisory Committee of the City of Denton, Texas convened in a Regular Meeting on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in Training Rooms 1 and 2 at the Development Services Center, 401 N. Elm Street, Denton, MEMBERS PRESENT: Members Janet Scott-Harris, Sharon Kremer, Drew Christ, Hannah Garcia, Kamyon Conner, Wandaliz Turner, Dale Tampke, and Lilyan Prado-Carillo Texas. MEMBERS ABSENT: Member Connor Hall Called to order 4:31 p.m. by Chair Hannah Garcia with seven members present. Member Prado- Carillo had not yet arrived. 1.ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION A. CSAC 24-019- Consider approval oft the minutes ofJuly 12, 2024. Chair Hannah Garcia asked ift there were any changes to the minutes. Member Tampke stated that Vice Chair Christ left the meeting early and the group voted to appoint Member Tampke to facilitate the meeting in his absence. Chair Garcia requested a motion to approve the. July minutes. Member Wandaliz moved to approve the minutes amended as discussed. Conner, Wandaliz Turner, and Dale Tampke NAYS (0): None B. CSAC24-020 Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the City of Denton's housing and homelessness initiatives. Member Prado-Carillo arrived. Housing Programs Coordinator, Leia Atkinson, provided a presentation on the City's Housing Plan, and committee members asked questions regarding details of the plan and Homeless Programs Manager, Megan Ball, provided aj presentation on the City's homelessness initiatives. In addition to information provided in a PowerPoint presentation, staff reviewed the Homeless Outreach Team's role and the City's process for responding to pending amendments to the City ofl Denton Development Code. 4 City of] Denton Community Services Advisory Committee Minutes July 12,2024/Page: 2 encampments and people living unsheltered in the City. Committee members asked about long-term funding to sustain various programs and for a future presentation on other programs available in the county through funding sources other than the City. 2. CONCLUDING ITEMS A. Under Section 551.042 of the Texas Open Meetings Act, respond to inquiries from the Community Services Advisory Committee or the public with specific factual information or recitation of policy, or accept a proposal to place the matter on the agenda for an upcoming meeting and under Section 551.0415 oft the Texas Open Meetings Act, provide reports about items of community interest regarding which no action will be taken, to include: expressions of thanks, congratulations, or condolence; information regarding holiday schedules; an honorary or salutary recognition of a public official, public employee, or other citizen; ai reminder about an upcoming event organized or sponsored by the governing body; information regarding a social, ceremonial, or community event organized or sponsored by an entity other than the governing body that was attended or is scheduled to be attended by ai member oft the governing body or an official or employee of the municipality; or an announcement involving an imminent threat to the public health and safety of people in the municipality that has arisen after the posting of the agenda. Staffalerted the committee that the original email meeting invitation for the November meeting was incorrectly sent for November 7, and a corrected invitation was sent for November 14.
