Prodamation Of OState gfGmergeng WHEREAS, Sandra L. Welch, Mayor and Sheila N. Rose, City Manager have certified that conditions resulting from Hurricane Milton have created an emergency situation; and WHEREAS, the Florida Governor issued Executive Order Number 24-214 on October 5, 2024 declaring a state of emergency in 35 counties including Broward County, for a period of sixty days unless extended; and WHEREAS, the Florida Governor issued Executive Order Number 24-215 on October 6, 2024 amending Executive Order 24-214, declaring a state of emergency increasing the number of counties in the state of Florida under a state of emergency to 51, effective immediately and expiring upon the expiration of Executive 24-214; and certain emergency measures to be taken under emergency conditions; and WHEREAS, Section 312 of the City of Coconut Creek City Charter authorizes WHEREAS, a Local State of Emergency is hereby declared by proclamation in accordance with Section 2-25 of the City's Code of Ordinances in order to authorize such actions as may be necessary to manage such Local State of Emergency; and WHEREAS, this Declaration of a Local State of Emergency fori the City of Coconut Creek shall automaticaly terminate on the 7th day after it was proclaimed, unless extended by a separate Proclamation extending such Local State of Emergency issued by the Mayor and City Manager or repealed by formal action of the City Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that Sandra L. Welch, Mayor and Sheila N. Rose, City Manager, of the City of Coconut Creek, Florida, do hereby proclaim and declare the existence of a City-wide "STATE OF EMERGENCY" and that all proper and lawful actions necessary to swiftly resolve the emergency and return the City to a condition of normalcy shall be taken.
