ON OCTOBER 16, 2024, IN PREPARATION FOR THE IMMINENT ARRIVAL OF HURRICANE MILTON AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL STEPS NECESSARY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE AND PROPERTY, AND FACILITATE EXPEDITED RECOVERY EFFORTS CONSISTENT WITH WHEREAS, by State of Florida Executive Orders Nos. 24-214 and 24-215, Governor Ron DeSantis declared that a state of emergency exists throughout the State of Florida, based upon the serious threat to the public health, safety, and welfare posed by  CHAPTER 252, FLORIDA STATUTES.  what is now known as Hurricane Milton; and  WHEREAS, by the power and authority granted to political subdivisions under Section 252.38(3)(a)(5), Florida Statutes, the City Council declares a local state of emergency as the imminent arrival of Hurricane Milton poses a serious threat to persons  and property located in the City ofF Fellsmere; and  WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 252.38(3)(a), Florida Statutes, municipalities are granted the specific authority to effectuate storm preparation and  recovery; and  WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the CityofFellsmere to authorize the City Manager to take all reasonable. actions necessary to preserve life and property, and facilitate expedited recovery efforts in accordance with  Section 252.38(3)(a), Florida Statutes;  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of SECTION 1. RATIFICATION. The above recitals are hereby ratified, SECTION 2. DECLARATION OF STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY.
