The North Carolina Department of Transportation is starting the project development, coordination, and alternative evaluation for improvements to approximately 4 miles of US 17 between Edenton Road Street and Wiggins Road near Hertford in Perquimans County (NCDOT Highway Division 1). More information about this project is provided in the enclosed Start of Study letter along with a Project Vicinity Map, NCDOT is requesting that the County provide initial input on this project replying to their email IX.D. Enclosures. The Chowan/Perquimans Multi-County LEPC was awarded the Hazardous Material Emergency Preparedness Gran Program (HMEP) for a HazMat Exercise. The amount of the grant award was $23,000. County Manager Heath agreed with Dr. Turner and thanked Mr. Hite for his service to PERQUIMANS MARINE INDUSTRIAL. PARKI LEASE GUIDELINES Chairman Nelson recognized County Manager Heath who explained that these forwarded to the Board several months ago. They have made a few revisions, and he guidelines reviewed them with the Board. County Manager Heath asked the Boardt to review these guidelines and be prepared to discuss with possible action being taken ind our October, 2024 meeting, County Manager Heath stated that a committee of Commissioners Corprew and Jones, County Manager Heath, Sheriff Shelby White, and Animal Controlr met to discuss abetterc definition ofthe outdoor structure for animals in the County. This will be an add-on to the original ordinance and that no other items will be changed from the original form. Mr. Heath also explained that tethering was not a part of this amendment. Commissioner Corprew made al few comments about whyt this was discussed. Hes said that their main purpase was to give the Sherif's Office and Animal Controi tools to be able to provide themy with statutory requirements where the officer andg givet them at ticket, fine them, and, thea animalt from the owner. Mr. Heath asked the Board tor review the proposed amendment possibly to the Animal Control Ordinance and wey will schedule a Public! Mearing att the October, 2024 meeting, The Code Enforcement Officer and the Building inspector had mentioned to County Heath and County Altorney High that the County needed make amendments to the Salid Manager Waste Ordinance beçause they were receiving a loto ofo citizen complaints wheret homeowners were leaving trash and junk in their yard. These proposed amendments will allow the Code Enforcement Officer and the Building Inspector to get a handle on this problem. This amendment does not change the original ordinance, buti itis an add-ont to the current ordinance. Again, Mr, Heath asked the Board to review the proposed Amendment to the Solid Waste Ordinance so that the Board can prepare a final drait for approval at the October 2024 meeting.
