City of Newark Zoning Board of Adjustments Thursday, November17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. 1. Call to order and announce quorum is present. Mayor Cardwell called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm, and announced a quorum was present. Those in attendance were: Mayor Crystal Cardwell, Mayor Pro Tem Christopher Raines, Councilmember Richard Sidebottom, Councilmember Nathanial Butler, City Admin Staff Brittany Mayhue, City Secretary. Jenni Moore. Councilmember Jennifer Hill arrived at 7:07pm. 2. Public Hearing - Variance request from Mauricio Hernandez to deviate from the provisions of the City of Newark Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14, Section 27.3, by allowing an accessory building exceeding the maximum allowable size at his property located at 525 Oak Hills Dr. Mauricio Hernandez was present to request a variance for a 30 by 50 accessory building on his property located at 525 Oak Hills Drive. Newark Citizen, Judy Hart spoke during the public hearing regarding a similar situation she is going through while trying to build a pergola on her property. Due to the new ordinance, she is unable to do SO. Councilmembers discussed the matter and agreed that the ordinance needed to be revisited. 3. Consider and act on variance request. Councilmember Hill made a motion to approve the Variance Request by allowing an accessory building exceeding the maximum allowable size at his property located at! 525 Oak Hills Dr. Councilmember Sidebottom second the motion.
