Ayes: 4, Nays: 0. b) Discussion, consideration, and possible action for nominations and election of officer for Mary Lyn Jones announced she would be stepping down as Chair of the Parks Board; however, she will remain on the board and finish out her term that ends. June 30, 2025. Motion by Mary Lyn Jones, 2nd by Lisa Messana, to nominate and appoint Nicole Bauer as the Chair for the Parks Board for FY2024-2025. Motion carried unanimously by a vote of4- Motion by Mary Lyn. Jones, 2nd by Nicole Bauer, to nominate and appoint Travis Tabor as the Vice-Chair for thel Parks Board for FY 2024-2025. Bash at' Wetzel Park. c) Update on 2024' Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Grant Application & Katie Amsler, updated the Parks Board that the grant application was submitted on August 1"and she expects to hear back around March 2025. Katie used the Mansions Parkland Dedication as a: match for the grant. However, Katie has not transferred the land yet because it does not have to be transferred yet to use as ai match, just have to show TPRF Land Holding. (K. Amsler) the intent. Katie will start the transfer when the time comes. Liberty Hill Parks Advisory Board Regular Meeting August 15, 2024 Page 2of5 d) Discussion, consideration and possible action regarding Liberty Hill Economic Development Corporation (LHEDC) use/ownership of downtown property. (M. Jones) Mary Lyn Jones informed the board that she and Nicole Bauer met with Christian Kurtz and Yvonne Castillo with the EDC yesterday and that is why no notes were available. Mary Lyn commented that they were super receptive oft the Parks Board ideas. During the meeting they discussed the two properties that the EDC has acquired, Project Redo and Project Vintage. Mary Lyn informed the board that she showed Christian and Yvonne the Parks Board priorities and accomplshments. Nicole Bauer echoed that she felt the meeting with Christian and Yvonne was great, and she likes their vision as to what they would like to do for the City. Mary Lyn mentioned that she informed Christian and Yvonne ofthe need for sports courts and baseball fields. Katie suggested that the Parks Board have a joint meeting with City Council and EDC to bring awareness to its needs. Katie commented that she would talk to Rachel at the newspaper to see ifs she would be interested in writing a story on the need for sports fields. e) Hear Parks pervaarommuncatons Update and Staff Report. (J.Higuera &1 K. Amsler) Katie Amsler provided an update for the Parks Department: Construction will start next summer on the parking lot paving project when the soccer teams are: not practicing. Will go to bid soon for the design. Pool- - open weekends only till Labor Day. New Employee - Austin Coleman, Parks Foreman Budget - new position - Recreation Coordinator. This person will work under Jamie and will handle all the recreation side ofParks and Recreation. This person Fit for Mom classes in City Park and will be starting in September. Question- do we charge? Yes. Next summer we will have a fee structure inj place. will oversee the pool operations and park events. Soccer season starts up on August 12th. Swim Lesson Report - 193 kids enrolled in swim lessons this summer. Next year hope to grow program. Next summer hoping to add lap swim hours from 8:00 a.m.-1 10:00 a.m. during swim lessons before the pool opens. Legacy Ranch High School reached out to use the pool for swim team practicé. Liberty Hill Parks Advisory Board Regular Meeting August 15, 2024 Page 3of5 Katie Amsler provided an update for the Communications Department: YMCA Workshop scheduled: for last night City Council meeting was cancelled at the last Sculpture Festival - scheduled for October 19th from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Outsourcing vendors tol LHTXI Market. 7-8 sculptors have signed up including the sand sculptor. Liberty Hill art students will do a field trip for the art installations and art contests. minute. Will reschedule at a later time. Christmas Festival - scheduled for December 14th. 4) REPORTS At this time, the Board may consider reports which do not require action. Examples might be reports from other committees or from the Cross-Committee Communications group. No Reports. Mary Lyn Jones will follow-up with Chad Cormack about the Cross-Committee Communications group. Mary Lyn Jones believes this communication isi important and it is good to hear what the other boards are doing. 5) FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Issues, topics for future consideration may bei identified and scheduled for a future meeting. No deliberations can be held on items not listed on tonight's agenda. YMCA Update - Katie will share the report she has with the Parks Board.
