Presentation Suzanne Wright, MPH, Director- Davie County Department of] Health and Human Services Ms. Wright shared the many functions oft the Davie County Dept. of Health and Human Services including inspections ofr restaurants, food trucks (that have increased from 51 to 25 in our county), tattoo parlors, grocery store delis, etc. They house the only OB provider in the county for prenatal care, but other than some at-home births, deliveries are mostly done in other counties. Senior Services - including Senior Games, Meals on Wheels. Davie Center for Violence Prevention. Child Welfare Unit (Social Services) - 100% of children are in care due toj parental drug use. Dragonfly House and its service to abused children in Davie and surrounding counties. DCHHS is responsible for unclaimed bodies in Davie County, having cremations and burials at the Storehouse for. Jesus. They issue fishing licenses to people receiving government assistance. Almost 1/3 oft the county is on Medicaid, or qualifies for Medicaid. Council gave praise regarding the handling oft the Covid19 vaccinations with cooperation of the Davie County Sheriff's Dept. Fire Hydrant Maintenance, Smoke Test inl BR East, PTRC application for EV charging station grant. Bids for leafcollection received - 3 contractors to be interviewed.
