PORT ALLEGANY BOROUGH COUNCIL Regular Meeting April 1,2024 CALL TO ORDER The Port Allegany Borough Council met on April 1, 2024 at the Borough Council Chambers. Those present were Council Members Laura Fillhart, Jared Dickerson, Katie Dynda, Sam Dynda, and Cory Thomas. Visitors present were Chris Ernst from E&M Engineers, Michael Johnson from Port Allegany Fire Department, and Council President Sam Dynda called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm, leading those in attendance with the Pledge of MINUTES- Cory Thomas made a motion to: approve the minutes oft the March 4,2 2024 Regular Meeting. Katie Dynda BILL LIST - After review, Katie Dynda made a motion to approve the March 2024 expenditures. Laura Fillhart Also present were Manager Jeremy Morey, Secretary Heather Szuba, and Mayor George Riley. Dotty Anderson from Port Allegany Heart and Soul. Allegiance. seconded the motion. MANAGER'S REPORT-1 The Manager's Report was provided and reviewed by Jeremy Morey. CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT - Code Enforcement report was provided and reviewed by Jeremy Morey. FIRE CHIEFS. REPORT- The Fire Chief'sreport was provided and reviewed by ChiefMike. Johnson. ChiefJohnson asked Council to consider a tax credit for volunteer firefighters and EMTs, similar to what the school is considering. POLICE/MAYORS REPORT - The Police report was provided by Chief Distrola. Mayor Riley announced that the Wine walk would be held on April 20. SOLICITOR'S REPORT-I Nothing to report. SECRETARY'S. REPORT - McWaPEC invitation was distributed. Heart & Soul - Council needs a volunteer to serve on the H&S board. Real Estate - 2024 Total Face Collected: $99,246.52 EIT- YTD March 2024-$ $53,809 (2023 $50,907) LST- YTD March 2024 - $8,538 (2023 $11,470) COMMITEE REPORTS TAXI REPORTS 2024 Total Uncollected $480,864.77 PUBLIC COMMENTS- - Dotty Anderson gave information regarding what Heart & Soul is for those unfamiliar with Katie Dynda made a motion to accept the resignation of Councilman Jill Stuckey. Laura Fillhart seconded. Motion Tom Johnson and Aaron Austin were both brought to Council's attention as willing to fill the vacant Council seat. Council asked the Borough Secretary to post on Facebook that Council was asking for letters ofinterest and will make the program. IMMEDIATE, ACTION carried with Council expressing appreciation to Mrs. Stuckey for her service. a decision at the next Regularly Scheduled Council Meeting.
