Council Meeting Council Chambers Monongahela, PA July 10, 2024 Minutes oft the regular meeting of the Council of the City of Monongahela, due notice of which meeting was published according to law, held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 7:00 P.M., in Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Garry who led int the pledge to the Mayor Garry asked for a moment of silence for our former Fire Chief Frank Hnatik. Flag. The roll was called and the following present: Greg Garry Roy Sarver Sarah O'Brien Daryl Miller Mark Gadd Public Forum John Gibson, 600 Sheridan Street, stated that in 2021 he had a sewage back up and had all new pipes and traps installed which cost him $17,000.00. On. July 2, 2024, he had a sewage back up. Bartman's came in and snaked from the trapt to the main. Thei invoice stated clog in City line and house line free. The bill was $166.00. Being that the problem was ini the City line, Mr. Gibson Solicitor McGraw stated that we would need a copy oft the invoice to review it with council Chad DeSantis, 31 Decker Street, congratulated the City on becoming the Kindest City. Mr. DeSantis wantedi to address a sewagel back up problem they have been having since 2017 or 2018. He stated that every time there isal heavy rain, a couple days later his sewer line backs up intol his basement. Being that iti isa a heavy rain, he believes very strongly that water is getting into Mr. DeSantis stated that driving' 73,290-pound trucks full ofrocks, heavy milling equipment, andi rollers in the area: may have broken underground utilities. The clogi inl his line is always int the same place and hasl happened around 15 times. Itis about 32 to 34 feet down from his sewer drain. Mr. DeSantis understands that he is not the only resident affected by this. He would like tol know how many others have been affected and would like tol know ifCouncil has a asked ifo could he get reimbursed for the bill since it wasn'tinl his line. and let him know. the sewer system and isn't t getting back out. solution or working on a solution. Ann Street and 102 Baywood Street, representing the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority stated that their Fiscal Year 2024 Triennial Review oft the Federal Transit Administration was returned to them with flying colors. Yesterday the. Authority supplied a bus to the Monessen Fire Department as a cooling station for the fire fighters. This afternoon some oft the construction fencing around Sheetz blew down and damaged the bus shelter. Mr. Eckert stated that for MARC the Farmer's Market is doing well. The themes for the next few weeks include on. July 12th Wear Your Team Colors, July 19th Wild Animals, July 26th Christmas in. July, and August 2nd Ethnic Foods Day. This Friday the Movies in the Mounds is Twister. Terry Necciai, 4001 Meade Street representing the Main Street Program wanted toj point out we have gained about 40 business ini the Monongahela area over the last 5: years. The Joseph Parkinson mural is up andt the Main Street Program is caretaker oft the original painting which he showed to Council. The painting of the mural was one oft thel Façade Grant projects from 2021. Christine Somales, 808 West Main Street, stated the Paranormal Tour is coming along. As for the down spouts and driveway drains in the Mounds area, we are starting a program to go up there with the Code Officer and Street Department to get all the down spouts and driveway drains Also, he reminded residents to clean up after their dogs at Chess Park.
