THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF TELLER COUNTY, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 10-03-2024(33) A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A STAGEIFIRE BAN THAT RESTRICTS OPEN BURNING IN TELLER COUNTY, COLORADO. WHEREAS, weather conditions and lack of precipitation have contributed to existing dry WHEREAS, open burning can be a prime cause of wildfire in Teller County; and WHEREAS, current conditions and circumstances of high fire hazard exist in Teller County and a significant lack of firefighting resources necessitate the imposition of a Stage I Fire Ban on open burning to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public; WHEREAS, the Sheriff as the Fire Warden of Teller County, Colorado has requested that Stage IFire Ban restrictions be activated on open burning in the unincorporated areas of WHEREAS, this Resolution is intended to implement the open fire ban authorized by WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby finds, determines and declares that adoption of this resolution is necessary for the preservation and protection of the NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Teller County, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in the Board by the laws and Constitution of Colorado, including specifically C.R.S. 30-15-401()n.5, that: 1. Open burning is banned on private and public lands in Teller County, State of conditions throughout the region; and and Teller County; and Ordinance #17; and public health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of Teller County. The following activities are allowed under this Resolution: a) use of charcoal grills, pellet grills, smokers, gas barbecues, gas firepits, liquid fueled gas stoves or lanterns, in each case that are at least 10 feet away from b) Campfires that are contained in a permanent fire ring located in developed and designated picnic and/ or campgrounds on public or private lands for public use.
