The Dale County Commission has called a special meeting for Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The purpose of this meeting is to correct clerical errors in the minutes of the October 11, 2016 meeting, to approve the employment of two employees in the Road & Bridge department, to discuss and approve a proposed Resolution for the Batelle boring project, to discuss the letter of support to Battelle, and to discuss the November 8, 2016 meeting. The following members were present: Mark Blankenship, District One Commissioner Chris Carroll Chairman; District Two Commissioner Steve McKinnon; District Three Commissioner Chairman Blankenship called the voting session to order at 10:00 p.m. Commissioner McKinnon opened with the Pledge to Allegiance. Commissioner Strickland followed with prayer. Charles W. Gary and District Four Commissioner James W. Strickland. AGENDA The purpose of the special called meeting was to correct the minutes of the October 11, 2016 regular meeting, discuss the Battelle Boring Project and approve hiring of two Road & Bridge employees. APPROVED - CORRECTED MINUTES Commissioner McKinnon made a motion to approve the corrected minutes from the October 11, 2016 regular meeting. Commissioner Strickland seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. EMPLOYEMENT Commissioner McKinnon made a motion to approve the hiring of two new employees in R&B Dale County) Commissioner Carroll seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. Department - Antonio McClain - R&B Laborer, Grade IV at $8.84 an hour. Donald Hoover - R&B Laborer, Grade IV at $9.85 an hour. (Previous experience with RESOLUTION OF THE DALE COUNTY COMMISSION- - BATTELLE BORING PROJECT Chairman, Mark Blankenship discussed how the Commission had been presented with a request tos support the Battelle Boring Project in Dale County as an economic development project, but that the Dale County Commission had agreed to remove the Resolution for the Battelle Boring Project. Due to the Southern Co. pulling their support and a letter from Battelle withdrawing the Project in in Dale County. WITHDRAW LETTER OF SUPPORT TO BATTELLE McKinnon seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. NOVEMBER 8, 2016 COMMISSION MEETING Commissioner Gary made a motion to withdraw the Letter of Support to Battelle. Commissioner Due to the November 8, 2016 meeting being held on Election Day Commissioner McKinnon made al motion to change the meeting to November 16, 2016 at 10:00. Commissioner Gary seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. November 1,2016 REMARKS Chairman Blankenship, along with all the Commissioners individually, thanked Commissioner Wes Strickland for his years of service to Dale County. This would be his last Commission Meeting before Frankie Wilson steps up to the duty of Commissioner for District 4. Commissioner Wes Strickland spoke of programs and projects that were completed during his term and thanked the commission and the citizens for their help in achieving those tasks. ANNOUNCEMENT - NEXT REGULAR MEETING Chairman Blankenship announced that the next regular meeting of the Dale County Commission would be Wednesday, November,16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. ADJOURNMENT: CONFIRMATORY STATEMENT Chairman Steve McKinnon made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Carroll seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
