Madison County Board of Elections Meeting Minutes - Special Session  November 9, 2023  The Madison County Board of Elections held a special meeting on Thursday November 9, 2023, at Suite E, Room 16, 5707 US 25-70 Hwy, Marshall, 28753. In attendance: In attendance: Dyatt Smathers, Secretary; Brian Ball Member; Ray  Lewis Member; Debbie Ponder, Member; Jacob Ray, Director; and three members oft the public.  Call to Order:  Secretary Smathers called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.  Agenda:  Motion (DP, RL) to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed unanimously (4-0)  Members' Report: everyone. New Business:  Member Ball expressed his appreciation to the staff and poll workers for an excellent job done on election day by  Secretary Smathers complimented the staff and poll workers on a successful election day.  Motion (DS, BB) to permit the staff to close the Board of Elections Office on Wednesday, November 22,  2023 to observe Veteran's Day. The motion passed unanimously (4-0).  Counting of Write-In Ballots: the bi-partisan team. Public Comment:  The director assembled a bi-partisan team and counted write-ins from each precinct. The Board observed the count by  Cheryl Williams expressed that attending meetings helped her understanding of the election process and helped her to  answer questions from voters.
