In attendance: Jerry' Wallin, Chair; Ray Lewis, Secretary; Dyatt Smathers, Member; SandraTolley, Member; Brian Ball, Member; Kathy Ray, Director; and Jacob Ray, Deputy Director. Callto Order: Agenda: Chair Wallin called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. June 23, 2020 Republican Second Primary Plans New] Business: Discussion ensued regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on conducting the) June 23,2020 Republican: Second Primary Election. The urgent need to provide: safe environments for poll workers and voters compels drastic changes for polling sites and: standard procedures. Moved, Seconded (DS, RL) and Carried (5,0) to approve three (3) one stop sites for the) June 23,2020 Republican Second Primary Election to bel located at the Hot Springs Community Center, thel Mars Hilll PublicL Library, and the Board of Elections and to staff each site with 2 Moved, Seconded (DS, RL) and Carried (5,0) to approve a resolution to create three (3) Election Day polling sites and temporarily transfer voters to adjacent or nearby precincts for the June 23, 2020 Second Primary Election, pending State Board of Elections approval. The three (3) Election Day polling sites will bel located at the Hot Springs Community Center, the Mars Hill Public Library, and the Board of Elections, Room 26. Each site willl bes staffed with three (3) judges of election. Hot Springs Community Center will bet the polling site for Hot Springs, Spring Creek, Revere Rice Cove, and Laurel Precincts; Board of Elections, Room 26 willl be thej polling site for North Marshall, South Marshall, Sandy Mush, and Walnut Precincts; and Mars Hilll Public Library will be the polling site for the Mars Hill, Ebbs Chapel, Beech Glen, and Ebbs Chapel Precincts. Eligible voters for this election will be notified of precinct polling place changes through a USPS mailing and an advertisement in al local newspaper with general circulation int the county.
