MADISON COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS Pre-Election ABSENTEE SESSION Board of Elections Conference Room  March 14, 2016 5:00 PM  MINUTES CALL TOORDER  Chair Dyatt Smathers called the meeting of the Madison County Board of Elections to order at 5:00 PM: at the Madison County Administrative Offices Building Board of Elections Office. In attendance were Dyatt Smathers, Chair; Ray Lewis, Secretary; Jerry' Wallin, Member; Jacob Ray, Temporary  Office Assistant; and Kathy Ray, Director.  AGENDA  Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) to set the agenda.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES Absentee Meeting. CHAIR'S REPORT  Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2016  Beech Glen one-stop site was running smooth.  The Chair reported that the State Board of Elections emergency meeting resulted in a 3" "for"2 "agains!" vote to set up a filing period for the US Supreme Court contest. There will be no retention  election for that contest. MEMBERS" REPORTS  Secretary Lewis reported that everything seemed to be running smoothly as he visited one-stop sites. Temporary Office Assistant Jacob Ray reported that some voters presented Photo ID but expressed they did not like it. Additionally, some voters did not to have to state their name and address after Member' Wallin was pleased with the voter turnout during early one-stop voting and predicted a good  presenting their Photo ID. turnout on Election Day. DIRECTOR'S REPORT  The Director commented that everyone has been very cooperative and willing to help. The office was very busy with voters seeking last minute guidance for Election Day. The Director complimented the job performances and willingness to assist election preparations by Maintenance Director Allan Hunter, Maintenance Assistance Jesse Roberts, and Board of Elections Temporary Office Assistants Jacob Ray and Glenn Peterson. With their help, all elections equipment and media were delivered  timely and without issue.  Page1of2    Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) approval of 46 civilian absentee ballot and 4 Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) approve Yvonne Cantrell as the temporary Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) approve Jane Briggs as a Republican assistant at Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) approve Shirley Ponder as an emergency Moved, Seconded (RL, JW) and Carried (3,0) approve adding one additional iVotronic machine Discussion ensued about poll worker assistants and the need to identify Election Day substitutes.  mlitaryloverseas applications.  Republican Judge replacement at Laurel Precinct.  Mars Hill Precinct.  Democratic assistant at' Walnut Precinct. (V5156159) to the Beech Glen Precinct.
