MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Secretary Smathers called the meeting of the Madison County Board of Elections to order at 10:00 a.m. In attendance were Dyatt Smathers, Secretary; Brian Ball, Member; Debbie Ponder, Member; Ray Lewis, Member; Jacob Ray, Director; and one member of the public. Agenda: Motion (BB, DS) to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed unanimously (4-0). Minutes Approval: Motion (DS, BB) to approve May 13, 2024 meeting minutes and May 14, 2024 meeting minutes. The motion passed unanimously (4-0). Members Reports: Member Lewis reported no complaints from the public and isn't hearing of any potential re-count Member Ball thanked staff for their work and commented on the process the board was about Secretary Smathers echoed member Ponder's comments and reported to the board about attending the sample hand-eye audit and complemented the procedures of the hand-eye audit to begin. Member Ponder complimented the staff on their work for the second primary team. Director's Report: The director provided copies of instructions sent by the State Board of Elections on procedures that would need to be taken when importing the canvass results. NEW BUSINESS Supplemental Absentee Ballots' Approval for May 24, 2024, Meeting: No Supplemental Absentee Ballots to review. Preparatory Steps to Count Provisional Ballots: Board members verified the public count of zero on the Provisional DS200. Page 1 of2 Provisional Ballot Approval/Denial for May 24, 2024 Meeting: The Board reviewed a total of one provisional application. Provisional Voting Reason: "Unreported Move" Motion (DS, BB to approve one provisional application. The motion passed unanimously (4-0). PREPARATORY STEPS TO SECURE COUNTED BALLOTS Voted ballots were sealed and secured for storage. edits as need to preserve ballot secrecy.
