Appalachian Assets Management's 3-unit Warehouse Project Design is not planning to adopt PAI DEP Stormwater Best Management Practices. The proposed warehouse is located in an area of Karst Geology (dominated by limestone) which is subject to sinkholes and ground water contamination. Considering the design, the extensive excavation, and disruption oft the existing geology, I would anticipate periodic sink hole development and the potential for ground water contamination if Appalachian Assets is noti required to use DEP-defined best practices for managing storm Several experts have stated that once the developers do the planned blasting, storm water runoff from the warehouse complex is likely to enter local springs (Cool Spring, Big Spring) that supply drinking water to a number ofr municipalities (Newville Borough, and' West Pennsboro, North Newton, and Penn Townships). Big Spring School District, as well as residential wells, use the same water source and would also be affected.
