Newville Economic Development Meeting  August 21, 2024  Secretary called roll: Those present include Ken Tuckey, Richard Gobin, Bob. Kanc, Liz Knouse, Vince Mellott, Shelby Yinger & Jeff Bouder excused absence Solicitor  McKnight was also present.  Approval of Minutes-Minutes were moved by Mr. Tuckey and seconded by Mr. Kanc.  Approved Unanimously.  Treasure's Report: (Please see included Treasure's Report)  Approval was given to pay bills to include Solicitor McKnight's latest invoice. Mr. Tuckey reviewed the solicitor bill with the group. It was moved by Mr. Kanc to pay August invoice for solicitor's June/July bills $420.00 and to accept the treasurer's report. The motion was seconded by Mr. Gobin. Motion was unanimously approved.  Staff/Board Reports:  Mr. Kanc: Discuss the Waterwheel 5K which is projected for 5/17/25. This date has  been approved by the Borough. Borough Update:  Legal: McKnight-250ft easement was explained as a permanent spot along was discussed. No other legal matters were discussed for votelaction. CAEDC Grant (s): Liz to work with Vince on these. Check LSAgrant with Tourism. Motion by B. Kanc the authority to sign all grants by the EDA. 2nd by Richard and was  approved and Ken Tuckey abstained.  Old Business:  Proposal for Parking Study: We will develop our scope and get some estimates.  Target list for grants- New Business:  Discussion of NEDA members on recommendations to the Council to expand the EDA. Motion was made by Mr. Kanc to authorize Mr. Mellott to send a letter to Borough council to expand the EDA1 from 7 member to 9 members. Motion was seconded by Mr.  Gobin. Motion Carries. (unanimously)    NEDAmembers discussed their terms and recruitment strategies for larger board.  New Business:  AAMPA Holdings Proposal for Warehouse Construction- Board agreed to send a letter of concern. NEDA agreed to have Vince Mellott discuss with Jack Erickson of Newville Borough Council ways we can support the Borough's efforts and concerns.
