NEWVILLE BOROUGH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, MARCH20,2 2024 The regular monthly meeting oft the Newville Borough Economic Development Authority was held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, int the Newville Borough Office located at 4 West Street, Newville, Pennsylvania. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Andrea Greene. The invocation was offered by Kenneth Tuckey followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. On roll call, the following members were present: Andrea Greene, Chairman; Vincent Mellott, Vice Chairman; Kenneth Tuckey, Treasurer; Directors Richard Gobin, Robert Kanc, Jeffrey Bouder; Newville Liaison. Jack Ericksen (via Zoom) and NEDA: Solicitor Marcus McKnight, III, Esquire. Borough Council Minutes The minutes oft the February 21, 2024 meeting of the Newville Borough Economic Development Authority were discussed. Robert Kanc made ar motion to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Richard Gobin. The minutes were unanimously approved. Treasurer's Report Kenneth Tuckey presented an overview of the proposed 2024 NEDA budget and discussed recent and future income ande expenses. Robert Kanc made a motion to approve the Treasurer's Report. The motion was seconded by Richard Gobin. The Treasurer's Report was unanimously: approved. Asecond motion was made by Vincent Mellott to accept and approve the proposed budget for 2024. The motion was seconded by Robert Kanc. The proposed budget for 2024 was unanimously accepted and approved. Reports Jack Eriksen reported that a meeting will be held on April 3, 2024 at: 10 A.M. at the Newville Office attended byr representatives of CADEC, NEDA, The Newville Historical Society and potentially Borough others. The purpose of the meeting willl bet to identify possible sources of grants/funding for projects Bob Kanc reported on progress with the organization of the third annual Waterwheel 5K and Festival to bel held on May 18, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00P.M. at the trail head of Cumberland Valley Rails to Trails. The NEDA will promote a chicken BBQ as there was as successful trial run last year. Itis expected that there willl be many: 1: time vendors as well as returning vendors at this year's event. Andrea Greene led a discussion regarding several proposed projects being considered by the NEDA. Proposed potential projects that were discussed included the acquisition of land at the rear of properties located from 6-14 W. Big Spring Avenue for the development of public parking. Also discussed was aj proposed potential project to connect the Cumberland Valley Rails to Trails trail head to downtown business areas. There may bei funding available for proposed projects through various sources including CADEC and The Cumberland County Redevelopment Authority. These proposed potential projects willl be discussed at the meeting that was outlined in. Jack Eriksen's report. Andrea Greene reported that the "Zoom" subscription that the NEDA has been utilizing to allow members to attend remotely when necessary is about to expire. The need fora a' "Zoom" subscription that have or willl be identified by the NEDA and the NHS. and the cost fors same were discussed. A motion was made by Richard Gobin to approve the a dedicated "Zoom" subscription for the NEDA.
