Minutes June 17,2024 NORTH CATASAUQUA BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING CALLTO ORDER PLEDGE ROLL CALL PRESENT: President Pete Paone, Vice President John Yanek, Counciipersons: Michele Hazzard, Mike Macsisak; Dan Snyder, Mayor Molchany; Solicitor Stephanie Steward, Treasurer Annette Englert, Secretary TashaJ Jandrisovits. Adam Landis, Jessica Cope, Police Chief Chris Wolfer ABSENT: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Pete noticed a typo on the minutes from May 20, 2024-Tasha will correct. MOTION: By Dan Snyder to approve the meeting minutes from the May 20, 2024. 2nd by Michele Hazzard. No additional discussion, all in favor PEOPLE PRESENT Dave Kutzor - attended the meeting to make clarifications for roof bidding and specifications. Discussed removal oft the siren - Roger will handle outside roof work. Pete and Dave discussed again what we were looking fori from Keystone. Discussion continued, but Pete clarified that we need watertight roof with no damage and for it to last for 20-30 years down the road with keeping in mind we hope to use the 2nd floor one day and install an elevator. Stephanie agreed the bid document needs to be specific SO that everyone bids on the same work. OFFICE REPORT: - Tasha Jandrisovits Treasurer job status = we posted in Catty Press and Morning Call for two weeks each and received zero applicants. We posted on Indeed and received 10 within a few hours. We have conducted one interview and will continue interviewing next week. Bamboo Ordinance - Stephanie - our current ordinance is specific as to the items prohibited, the bamboo ordinance she drafted doesn't prohibit all bamboo, there are circumstances where it can be maintained. We can revise and prohibit bamboo all together or we could strictly prohibit. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORT - Greg Scheirer - no report. FIRE/CIVILSERVICE/OPERATIONS- Roger Scheirer 13 calls for May. Fire report attached. $13,450.59 received from state grant to replace older hoses on trucks. Fireman's relief gave the rest of the money towards it. Ordered in March 2024 and will take one year to receive. Looking to have the North Catasauqua fire department achieve state certification, we need 70% firefighters qualified in Firefighter 1 and 2 - we currently have 90% qualified. Goi through process, get stickers for truck. Catasauqua has this. North Catty was never able to obtain this before. Council thanked Roger for continuing to move the department forward. The state is moving its fire reporting system to First Due soon, Dan asked what the bill Dan thanked Roger for giving him and his family a tour of the Catasauqua Fire Station. Dan said he was very impressed, had no idea how large it was, how organized and up to date on equipment. Dan asked what our garage was being used for - Roger stated we use it for storage and the PD is using half ofit as well. Chrissy asked ift they could have the parking spots across the street back: since we are not running trucks out of here. COUNCIL PRESIDENT REPORT- Peter Paone Hotel tax approvals Pete has the applications fori the Northampton County Hotel Tax Grants for 2025. He normally applies fori the Rec Committee for $4k and $2100 for the Community Day. The rec committee has not spent all of the 2024 monies yet. Michele mentioned she met with Marc from the Betterment Committee to discuss sponsoring a concert for Autumnfest. Discussed we could use additional money for Community Day. We agreed to keep concerts at $4k and bump Community Day up to $3k.
