RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES Borough ofNewville March 19, 2024 Attendance: Ed Sinkovitz (Borough Council), Matthew Kump (Chairperson), Sandy Brymesser (Events Coordinator), Danyel Arnold, Steve Brymesser (visitor) and Stephen Melton The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:05 p.m. Action: Minutes ofl February 20, 2024 approved. Treasurer's Report Beginning Balance - $4573.19 Ending Balance : $4873.26 Deposits - $300.00 (Zion Lutheran Church) + $.07 (Interest) = $300.07 Action: Treasurer's Report was received. Fundraising: Ed S. spoke with Gordon Hull (Scouts) to get advice on barbecue event. Ed confirmed with Joe Spencer (717-226-1668) and he will provide a chicken barbecue meal for $5/half a chicken on May 4, 2024. We would be responsible for purchasing applesauce, beans, etc. We would sell the meal for $12/each. We: need about 10 people on the day to do the work. Danyel will create a template for the tickets. She will send it to the committee. We should have the tickets done by March 26. Print about 300 tickets on card stock. Ed will check to see if we can have tickets available to sell at thel borough office. The meals will be picked up at the park pavilion. The cost oft the pavilion is $25. We will sell soft drinks for $2 and water for $1. Sandy will get the soft drinks, water (through Pepsi). Sandy and Steve B. will purchase applesauce, baked beans, plastic ware, and rolls from Johnny Restaurant Supply. Ed will ask if we can have a borough credit card to pay for items. There is a baseball tournament going on May 4, SO we will serve food to those folks too. Sandy will offer soups, sloppy joe barbecue, and hot dogs. We will sell food starting at Danyel will contact Newville Mennonite Church about parking for the May 4 event. 10:00 a.m. Summer Recreation Program Working on plans. Pastor Steve announced that Big Spring Presbyterian is donating $1500 to ensure we can have a two-day program this summer. It would be nice to use the funds to provide a well-rounded food. Ship Daddy has donated $800 for the summer program. Dillon from Strauss Entertainment will provide some of the programming. Sandy wants to offer a Family Fun Night. Offer music, food, and drink in mid-summer. Perhaps the week of. July 4 since we are not having our weekday programs that week. She would like us to consider "Music at the Fountain" - Once a month on a Friday we Matthew will create a summer event newsletter and a social media page. He will create a picture permission form.
