-1-  EAST BERLIN BOROUGH COUNCIL 128 Water Street, East Berlin, PA 17316  The Special Monthly Meeting of the East Berlin Borough Council was held Wednesday, May 5, 2021,  at the East Berlin Borough Hall. The meeting opened at 2:15 PM. Members Present: Roberta Teal, Charles Krall and Donald Dixon Members Present Remotely: James LeVan and Anne Geiger Members Absent: Jason Wood and David Meixner  Also Present: Solicitor Matt Battersby and Secretary/Ireasurer Cindy Smith Management Coordinator (EMC), Jim Hale - Gettysburg Times,  Guests /Constituents present in person & remotely: Walt Geiger, Chris Warner - Borough Emergency  Roberta Teal announced that the Mayoral position is vacant. Mayor Keith Hoffman.has resigned effective May 1,2 2021. For those interested in being appointed by the Borough Council to the office of Mayor, East Berlin Borough, an affidavit of residency and a letter of interest must be submitted by close-of-business day; Tuesday May 11,2 2021. Applications will be discussed and considered at the regularly advertised and scheduled Borough Council Meeting on May 12, 2021 at7PM. Should no suitable candidate(s) apply, the deadline for applications will be extended until close-of-business: day; Tuesday, May 25, 2021 for consideration at a scheduled "special meeting" on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, 2 PM or prior to Friday, May 28, 2021 (as needed). James LeVan motioned to formally accept the resignation of Mayor, Keith Hoffman effective May 1, 2021. By roll call vote 3 Yes/1. Abstain/ 1 No. Charles Krall explained that his vote of"no" was in a show of support for Keith Hoffman's past work as Mayor of the Borough and for what he is looking Solicitor Battersby requested that the establishment ofal Borough Vacancy Board be added to the  forward to in the future. James LeVan thanked Charles Krall for his explanation.  May 12, 2021, Regular Council Meeting Agenda ifneeded.
