Thompsontown Council Meeting February 19, 2024 7PM Ar regular meeting of the Thompsontown Borough Council was held in the Thompsontown Borough Office on January 15, 2023. The following were in attendance: Mayor Kenneth Hart, President Roger Stutts, Vice-President Andy Lenig, Secretary/Treasurer Sue Pontius, Councilmen/Counciwomen: Willard Roush, Martin Wilson, Robert Speece, Connie Eaton, Nathan Claybaugh, Solicitor Seth Mosebey and Engineer Brian Book. Motion to approve both the minutes and the financial report were made by Andy Lenig and seconded by Robert Speece with one correction to add Nathan Claybaugh as present last month. The Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Department minutes were not available, the Municipal Authority minutes were read informing Council the Municipal Authority received a grant for the Haldeman Well Solicitor Mosebey brought copies of the annual Ambulance and Fire Department Resolutions for Council to approve and sign. Solicitor Mosebey will send the signed copies back to the office to be filed and given to both the ambulance and fire Project. department. Engineer Book informed Council the Borough received a form to fill out for the $25,000 Marcellus Shale Grant? The Borough has $3300 funds set back from donations from the Vets and Don Fry Memorial Funds, plus the American Rescue Cares Act (ARCA) funds for approximately $66,000, if they want to do the Walking Trail which would come to about $94,000 of the $98,000 needed. Motion was made by Robert Speece to combine the funds to do the walking trail. Seconded by Connie Eaton. Council approved. Engineer Book will write up the information for the Marcellus Shale Grant Thompsontown Ambulance President Ricky O'Neal and Jeff Leitzel came to the meeting to discuss the issues for Thompsontown Ambulance, since EMT Darlene Peachey fell and fractured her leg. Both gentlemen wanted the Borough to understand they are not able to handle all of the calls coming in. Jeff noted the cost to train EMT's cost $1500 to $2000. Both wanted Council to know it will take some time to get people President Stutts reviewed with Council information from the flood insurance on the showroom at the cost of $21,000. President Stutts asked for a motion to accept the $21,000 insurance for the flood in this building. Connie Eaton made the motion to accept and Willard Roush seconded the motion. Council approved. Secretary Pontius informed Council the letter was sent to SEDA-COG Council wants to terminate their contract as of December 31, 2023. A new training session is scheduled for January 18, 2024 from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. Council was invited to join. before January 31, 2024 due date. available again. President Stutts reviewed the Committee Responsibilities with Council and asked Council members if there is anything they are interested on being on? The new list of responsivities will be handed out at the next Council meeting on February 19, 2024. Secretary Pontius put the Helipad License update until when a planning meeting is scheduled. Martin King Jr. holiday I was unable to contact others for updates. Secretary Pontius handed out Ethics forms to all Council members and all public V-President Lenig had a request from the Boy Scouts to be able to use the Barb-B-Que Pits on February 9, 2024.
