DEPARTMENT HEADS MINUTES SEPTEMBER 11,2024 Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance The Department Heads meeting was called to order by Assessor Abbey Mullis at 8:33 AM. Those present were Collin Koop, Abbey Mullis, Ashley Hernandez, Brandon Beechley, Cory Wall, Dave Hornung, Heather Morris, Randy Gorton, Scott Stinnett, Stan Hitchcock, Susan Corliss, Theresa Korbelik, Travis Belden, Travis Gale, and Valerie Boyd. Jennifer Gribble, Pam Mills, Shawn Franz, Terry Hubbell, and Todd Holmes were absent. Department Head Monthly Reports: Administrator Theresa Korbelik working on. The process will be smooth. Ambulance Director. - Heather Morris The office is busy with regular business and the 2025 budget that all department heads are SEMTACisI meeting in Burlington Colorado at the Community Center on October gth and 10th and will be the State ofColorado representatives: present for EMS with] Legislative updates. Grand County EMS has a tool that they are utilizing for the safety of EMS personnel and for the safety of patients. They are requesting agencies to utilize this tool for more data. RETAC has requested that KCCAS utilize this tool due to the amount ofinterfacility transfers that are taken out ofKit Carson County Memorial Hospital. Business as usual. Assessor - Abbey Mullis Not as busy right now. Summer activities staff has been busy. New hire is working out well. Working on some inspections and site visits in Burlington. The abstract went out last month for the state to review. The final abstract will be submitted in December. The changes in the property tax don'tseem to be too impactful. There is a new classification of tax for two years dealing with senior exemption. They can downsize in 2025 or 2026 and keep exemption. The fourth license for GIS has been installed. She is working with OEM and Dispatch to improve the GIS and make it available for Dispatch, Sheriff, and First Responders. Clerk & Recorder - Susan Corliss The ballot certification was received on Monday, SO Crystal has been programming the ballot. We were able to do the first proofreading last night; now there will be additional proofreading and creation of the audio ballot before the in-house testing is started. The ballot proofs need tol be to the printer on Friday. It was nice to see that it will fit on a two-sided legal- size paper. Amendment K will allow for an additional week to prepare ballots. Recording has seen al lot ofactivity with online research, which is good since it is slow. The other departments are business as usual. Commissioner- District 1- Stan Hitchcock Road & Bridge District 1 has had al lot ofrain north of Burlington; washed out 4 culverts. County Road 55 will need tol be closed to repair al bridge. The road repairs are going very slow. 20240911 Department Heads Meeting Page 1of3 Commissioner District 2- Cory Wall Super proud of our first responders especially remembering 9/11 today. The overlay and chip seal projects went well and are finished north and south of Stratton for this year. The county ist buying a road striper and will be painting County Road 30. Commissioner- District3-1 Dave Hornung Thanked everyone for working on their budgets. At the CDOT ETPR meeting this week it was announced that Highway 241 between Burlington to Bethune will be overlayed next year. East ofBurlington will not be head-to-head just single lane traffic where they are working. The head- to-head traffic between Burlington and Bethune should be ending by November. Road & Bridge District 3 has two to three weeks to finish the second mowing. The new lease for the mowing tractors will be with Case IH in 2025. Coroner- Randy Gorton Business has picked up during the past months. Emergency Manager Ashley Hernandez the: schools for emergency notifications. Extension Service - Scott Stinnett Emergency Operation Plan will be updated by the end of September. Ongoing things with Extension Service - Ron is planting wheat test plots and checking on corn plots not quite ready for harvest. 4-H - good success for the members at State Fair. New enrollment will be October through January for 2025. A Tri-State Beef Symposium is being planned for next year in Burlington or Holyoke. Grounds & Buildings Collin Koop Fall Festival was successful with about 1,000 people attending. The carnival was well attended, dance was slower, carousel was full almost all the rides, but parking was a disaster. Collin will be on vacation until September 23. Working on the budget and catching up. There will be a new. AC unit going into Clerk's office to replace the bad unit. Public Health Director - Valerie Boyd Gearing up for the flu clinics in October. Shared how busy the department has been. Solid Waste Director Brandon Beechley SheriffTravis Belden About 1,000 tons of crushed concrete has been sold. He will be attending conference next week. Veteran Service Officer- Travis Gale Going on with business-as-usual spending al lot oftime on appeals and denied claims; it just means more work. He has had positive comments from veterans.
