PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL SESSION  SEPTEMBER 18, 2024  The Thorndale City Council met for a Public Hearing & Special Session on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. int the meeting room of Thorndale City Hall, 105 North  Main Street, Thorndale, Texas.  Present-  Mayor - George Galbreath Jr. Mayor Pro Tem - Wayne Green Council -Steven Zuehlke, Michael Becker, Shanta Kuhl Employees -Stacy Irwin, Raymond Miller. Jr.  Absent- 1. Call to Order  Council- - Jared Melde  Mayor Galbreath called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Galbreath.  2. Pledge of Allegiance PublicHearing valuation.  3. Provide information on the 2024 Proposed Tax Rate of $0.528083 per $100  Mayor Galbreath announced the following: Last year's taxi rate is $ .5355 per $100, This year's no-new-revenue ratei is $ .507789 per $100, This year'svoter-approval rate is $ .528083 per $100 And the proposed tax rate for 2024 is $ .528083 per $100.  Mayor Galbreath stated This tax rate is a 3.5% percent increase over the no-new-revenue tax rate. Allt taxes generated will be for maintenance and operations. The amount oft taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $912.86. The average taxable value for homes ini the  City of Thorndale is $172,881.  4. PublicP Participation and Comment on 2024 Proposed Tax Rate.  No comments were received and Mayor Galbreath closed the Public Hearing at 6:02 5. Discussion and action regarding Ordinance 2024-09, approving the 2024 Tax Rate. Councilwoman Kuhl made the motion to set the tax rate at $0.528083 per $100 . Motion wass seconded by Councilman Green. Mayor Galbreath called for a record vote with no  p.m.  opposition.
