CITY OF CLEAR LAKE SHORES MEETING MINUTES September 3, 2024 @ 6:301 PM These are the certified minutes of the Regular Meeting oft the City Council for the City of Clear Lake Shores, County of Galveston, State of Texas, which was held on the above-mentioned date and time. 1. CALLTO ORDER & DETERMINATION OF QUORUM: Mayor Chronister called to order at 6:30 pm Present: Mayor Chronister, Mayor Pro Tem Fenwick, Councilman Waters, Councilman Fisher, City Admin. Mike Kramm, Finance Director Cheryl Hunter, Chief David Donaldson, Asst. City Secretary Angie Galvan Absent: Councilman Scanlon, Councilman Terrell, City Secretary Christy Stroup PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FLAG AND THE TEXAS FLAG: 2. 3. Mayor led the Pledge. PRESENTATIONS: 1) Doris Sanders and Ronnie Richards to speak in reference to Ms. Val's cottage and grounds. Ms. Sandersand Mr. Richards gave a presentation (attached) that described whati the vision of the Historical Committee would like Ms. Val's cottage and property to be turned into. 2) Recognition of the neighborhood volunteers for helping with Hurricane Beryl cleanup. Mayor Chronister presented individuals with Certificates of Appreciation for everything they did to help with the cleanup. Doug Richardson, Doug Roberts, Keith Elliott, Brandon Ward, and Matthew Nicholas were presented with a certificate by the Mayor. Mayor recognized Mayor Pro Tem Fenwick has been recognized by the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as the 2024 Role Model. 4. REPORTS FROM COUNCIL: control for spraying; Councilman Ed Waters: Glad that Sgt. Flores is back in the office and doing well; Call the mosquito Councilman Rick Fisher: Next Parks Committee meeting was 08/26 and they discussed budget and projects that they would like to see completed this next fiscal year. Councilman Jeff Terrell: Absent Councilman Alex. Scanlon: Absent personnel and agencies are in our thoughts. Mayor Pro Tem Amanda Fenwick: Glad that Sgt. Flores is back and that all law enforcement Mayor Chronister: Lights on CLR are installed; Banners are on order; thanked Mayor Pro Tem Fenwick fore everything she does and thanked Finance Director Cheryl Hunter for budget. 5. STAFF REPORTS: Chief David Donaldson: No report City Administrator Mike Kramm: Brackets for banners have been re-ordered; him and Cheryl attended a meeting with FEMA; Govos having software glitches; city alcohol ordinance will change due to legislation changes; East Parking Lot update. 6. PUBLIC COMMENTS: At this time, any person with city-related business may speak to the City Council. If the topic of discussion is related to an item on the agenda, the comments may be made now or at the time the agenda item is discussed. If the topic of discussion is not related to an item on the agenda, the City Council cannot deliberate or take any action at this time. Comments from the public should be limited to a maximum of three (3) minutes per individual. No yielding of time is permitted. Lynda Michaelski- - 1019 North Shore: Supports the purchase of Val's cottage property Terry Cross - 402 CLR: Wants the city to make good business decisions and not emotional Nancy Richards-1 131 E. Shore Dr.: Emotional connection, preserving history. Charles Russell = Clubhouse history and thinks Val's property has just as much historical Patrick Michaelski- -1 1019 N. Shore: Supports selling other parks and thinks the larger park decisions. The current parks are not being used. value. and location is good.
