A Regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Garza County, Texas was held on Monday, September 23, 2024 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Commissioners' Courtroom, 300 W. Main St., Post, Texas with the following members present: Lee Norman, Judge; Pct. 1-Jeff Williams; Pct. 2-Kim County officials present: Terri Laurence, District & County Clerk, LuAnne Terry, Treasurer, Nancy Wallace, Tax-Assessor Collector and Ted Weems, Also present Carol Williams, Administrative Assistant; Michael Isbell, Emergency Management Coordinator; Kylene Wheeler, Elections Administrator; David Graves, Constable Pct. 1; Lane Jones, Carmen Brannon Wilks; Pct. 3-Ted Brannon and Pct. 4-Giles W. Dalby. County Attorney. and Anna Gibson, Post Dispatch. Judge Norman called the Regular Meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Order 1: Prayer Order 2: Pledge to Flags Order 3: Public Comment None presented. Order 4: Minutes from the September 9, 2024 regular meeting were approved as presented with a motion by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Wilks. With a majority of the court members voting aye, the motion carried and SO ordered. Order 5: Came on for consideration was accounts payable from September 9th, 2024 through September 23rd, 2024. Motion was made by Commissioner Brannon and seconded by Commissioner Dalby that all accounts presented in the fund requirement print-out is ordered paid and presented to the Treasurer for payment. With a majority of the court members voting aye, the motion carried and SO ordered. See attachment. Order 6: Reports from county offices-The following items of information were brought before the Court as a written and/or verbal Report: Michael Isbell, Emergency Management Coordinator: Continuing working on Hazard Mitigations. Kylene Wheeler, Elections Administrator: Having an Elections 101 meeting today from 3:00 p.m._4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and is open to everyone. Last day to registrar to David Graves, Constable Pct. 1: City of Lubbock did not respond to Garza County's notice of termination for law enforcement at Judge Norman: The 67th Annual Gold Star Banquet for 4-H will be October 21, 2024. Commissioners have been awarded $900.00 from Road and Bridge Project for safety equipment. Met with MTC with Curtis Hudman and Giles W.Dalby. MTC will not help with another contractor to operate the Dalby Unit. Have been talking with a new operator and have talked to the owner and he said there were a couple of contracts in the area that are really Vote is October 7, 2024. Lake Alan Henry. promising. District & County Clerk: An motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Wilks to accept the reports as presented. With a Majority of the court members voting aye, the motion carried and sO ordered. ATE Order 7: Consider to approve Indigent Defense Contract. A motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Brannon to approve the Indigent Defense Contract. With a majority of the court members voting aye, the motion carried and sO ordered. See attachment. Order 8: Consider to approve renewal notice of Retirees Supplement. A motion was made by Commissioner Dalby and seconded by Commissioner Wilks to approve the 2025 for Retirees Supplemént. With a majority of the court members voting aye, the motion Carried and sO ordered. See attachment. Order 9: Budget Amendments & Line Item Transfers. None presented.
