BRISTO ARGINI Planning Commission Work Session August 26, 2024 5:00PM  Present: Kristie McElheny, Paul Conco, Kalen Hunter, Bill Hartley, Anthony Farnum, Alex Littleton Staff: Jay Detrick, Director of Community Development; Junel McIllquham, City Planner; Amy Dula,  Absent: Daniel Shew Deputy Clerk Call to Order  Dr. Conco called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m.  A. Called Meeting Agenda  1  Comprehensive Plan Work Session  Mr. Detrick presented and discussed the goals in the draft comprehensive plan. He said no Conco commented on environmental services for weekend bus services, bike paths, racks on buses, roundabouts, landscaping, and lighting. He also asked about the demolitions of condemned structures. Detrick said implementation strategies are included in the Comprehensive Plan for redeveloping and demolishing unsafe structures. He said that a micro- transit feasibility study would bei referenced in the plan to study aj potential trolley to cover the downtown area tot the casino on weekends. Detrick noted the City anticipates two roundabouts: Five Points and Euclid. Avenue. Conco recommended working on thej presentation and font and Ms. Littleton recommended adding language about a venue specifically for sports. Mr. Hartley asked staff ift the City had considered existing property for potential multi-purpose uses. Mr. Detrick said the City has identified the former Highland View Elementary as a possible space Ms. Littleton asked about government and public services and suggested lunch-free schools. Ms. McElheny recommended deleting the Cameo pictures because the Cameo is no longer in The Commission discussed whether to keep Bonham Road and Alpha Natural Resources as  action would be taken because the work session was for discussion only.  adding links and colors.  for multi-sport use.  business.  manufacturing or change to ai mixed-use district.
