COMMUNICATION FROM CITIZENS Noo communication from citizens AFPROVALACCEFTANCFS OF MINUTESAND FINANCIAL REPORTS The April 9, 2024 minutes were approved on a motion by Robert Llewellyn, seconded by Winston Vaughn. The March and April 2024 Treasurer's reports were accepted. OLD/NEW BUSINESS A. Richardson Road Site 1. GOVA Grant Application Update -Neal Barber explained where the process isi in the application process. DHCD Requested a site suitability study performed prior to approval for the $100,000. Grant for the $20,000: site suitability study has been administratively approved with contract negotiations on Friday and ifa approved, we'll be under contract by the end oft the month. With Timmons as the contractor, it will take approximately six days to perform. Once completed, it'sa anticipated entering into the full $100,000 extended due diligence work. Neil Barber explained that this grant is still inj process for approval. 2. VDEP Grant Application Update 3. RFP-Amelia EDA Commercial Real Estate Broker Services Neal Barber explained the RFP the EDA requested. Mr. Smith explained that they do not believe they are ready to move: forward on the RFP. County Administration explained that the plans for the shelter are complete andi is ready to send Waiting for the Board of Supervisors to approve moving forward with the project which is noti in 4. Animal Shetler Update out an RFP. this year's budget to do SO. 5. Demolition Update Daryl (the public works director) explained where they' re at in the process of the abatement oft the Robert Llewellyn motioned, and Winston Vaughn seconded to approve moving forward site. They received estimates fori the abatement for $18,000 and $19,500. with the $18,000 abatement project. B. Red Velocity Update Ashley Gunn, Administrator's/ Assistant, explained that due toi inclement weather filming dates had tol bej postponed to. June 5-7th but were able to film Amelia Day and Haunted Vineyard Winery on Ashley Gunn explained all the other businesses that will take part in the filming during June. Ashley mentioned the stipulation of submitting aj product oft the filming before June 30th in order to May 11, 2024. access the grant money that is left over. C. Chamber ofCommerce Partnership update 1. Business Appreciation Day -Ashley Gunn explained that due to weather the event has been moved to the gym and stated appreciation of the parks and recreation staff as well as others for putting it together. 2. On-site Visit Due to conflicting schedules the on-site spotlighting visit with Hillsman Hix has been rescheduled tol May 21stat 10am. COUNTY ADMINISTRATORS REPORT A. Discussed budget season, current financial facts of the county, and the upcoming meeting. B. Supervisor Jones stated after speaking with other supervisors from other counties, that we are inj par with other counties on raising taxes and that we' re still one of the lowest around even after raising taxes.
