MEMBERS ABSENT: None There being no one from the public audience wishing to comment, Mayor Adkins closed public ORDINANCE #11,2024: Town manager Laura Roberts explained the adoption of Ordinance #11, 2024 would give developers the option to install a single water meter and sewer connection for duplexes located on as single parcel, provided the units remain rental properties and would not be sold separately. She added the owner or developer would be responsible for the utility maintenance from the water meter and sewer connection. There being no further comment, Ben Conway moved to adopt AN ORDINANCE OF THETOWNCOUNCIL OFTHETOWNOF WISE, VIRGINIA. AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 13, 1998, WATER/SEWER/SERVICE RULES, REGULATIONS AND CHARGES SECTIONK.5.b. REGARDING SEPARATE WATER AND/OR SEWER SERVICE CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS. Robin Dotson seconded the motion with the vote recorded by roll call: Teresa Adkins, Mayor Ben Conway, Vice-Mayor Jeffery Dotson Robin Dotson Caynor Smith, Jr. "Aye" "Aye" "Aye" "Aye" "Abstain" Following the vote, Mayor Adkins requested that Town Manager Laura Roberts review the next steps necessary for Land Star, a developer from Tennessee who requested the amendment of Ordinance #13, 1998, to move forward with the addition ofmanufactured duplexes to the existing Midsouth Development located along Patriot Drive and Bear Creek Road in Wise County. Roberts stated the developer could complete the design oft the project, knowing their options for the water and sewer connections. She added both the developer and consultant had been provided with section RR of Ordinance #13, 1998, which outlined the Town's process for a line extension request. Roberts stated that once the request was submitted Council would review and move forward with the approval or denial of the line extension request. STAFF COMMENT: Special Events Coordinator Natasha Proulex advised the cost: fori the' Town toj provide the requested dinner to the Central High School football team, cheer team, and coaches, as discussed at the Minutes ofthe Wise Town Council Continued Meeting Page2of2 September3,2024 August 27th Council meeting, would be approximately $500. Caynor Smith, Jr. made a motion to approve the request, not to exceed $500.
