Mayor & Town Council Monthly Public Meeting Date: Monday, October 23, 2023. Location: Kitzmiller Community Building Time: 7PM In Attendance: Mayor Robert Reckart Councilman G. Michael Brady Councilwoman Theresa R. Harvey Allegiance was led by Nancy Brady. Councilman Cory: R. Stieringer Town Clerk Rebecca M. Glotfelty - This meeting was called to order by Mayor Reckart at 7P PM. Openingprayer - and pledge of Councilman Stieringer motioned to accept the meeting minutes from Monday, September 25th, 2023. Councilman Brady seconded the motion. 3-0. Motion Carries. Trick or Treat is this Friday, October 27th 2023, from, 6P to 8P. Announcements: The Council voted in favor of Maxx Tech Services fort the installation of the Security Systems Beccie is selling Veteran's Day Bows for the Telephone Poles. They are $5 each. If you are interested in purchasing one, please let her know. All Proceeds will be donated to the for the Town Buildings. Veteran's Day Celebration. Recognized Guests: Dale Lipscomb - Dale would just like to take a moment to say Thank You to Beccie for filling in at the Diane Kisner - Reported that she had, 8 attend the 1Maryland, 1 Book discussion. She had 17 attend the Eco System Program where they were ablet to build habitats for toads. Then 122 people Doug Barger - The snow at the top of hill at 1300 Spring Street. Doug brought it to the council's attention that since we plow the snow going down the hill, that we should. block off the bottom of the hill until the snow is completely melted. There are people who drive up the hill after most of the snow is gone, hit the giant snow pile that is still there and will go into his yard and he is concerned about them going into his house. The council all agreed that we could some, sort of Barricade at the bottom of the hill at Homestead Street & Spring Street. put up Nancy Brady Announced. that the Thrift Shop was able to donate to a couple different nonprofit organizations throughout the community. $100 to After School, $100 to Kitzmiller Youth League, $500 to the Town of Kitzmiller, and $500 to the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department. She and Beccie have a meeting scheduled this week to complete the final paperwork. Community Legacy - Sidewalks = Final Reimbursement was received; project has been closed out. LPPI = Electrici in Park-$ $30,000 for electrical upgrades in Park. Mayor has been working with an electrician about getting temporary outlets installed for Christmas, then the project will be Project Open Space = Portable Stage. completed in the spring. Waiting on 5 more lights Oak Street & Alley K Storm Drainage Project is complete, Johnny is waiting on the county engineer to get back to him about redoing the Storm Drainage on SpringStreet. & poles. New Business: Stairlift at School Estimate - Tabled until we are able find an additional funding source. New Truck Estimates Tabled until we receive an estimate from Patriot. Garrett County Board of Elections - Requesting to use School for Elections in 2024 (05/14/2024 &1 11/05/2024) with a donation of $150,00/electionfort the use of the facility. Councilwoman Harvey motioned to allow the Garrett County Board of Elections the use of the school building. Councilman Brady seconded the motion. 3-0. Motion Carried. Councilmember Concerns: G.Michael Brady- The rest of the supplies are in to complete the ramp project and it should be Theresa R. Harvey = She just wanted to say that the Fall Social was a great event and asked if there was anything we asa town could do about the lady parking at the school. She is parked sO close to the intersection that people are barely avoiding accidents when they turn outonto main street. Mayor Reckart stated that the town employees will paint no parking lines on the new: sidewalks, and Beccie will have a discussion with her on where she can park. Cory R. Stieringer - Stated that the Fall Social ended up being a huge hit and asked if they could go ahead and put it in the books for next year, for the daya after Trick or Treat.
