The new round of applications is to be accepted starting October 1st, 2021. We will revise ours to the new standards and resubmit it. Garrett County Commissioners w/ Project Open Space POS money will be used to get the pond in the park fixed, 4 new picnic tables will be installed, and new benches. We have been APPROVED for Well Connected Communities They have received the new paint, new sings, and new octagon picnic tables, and these things will be installed this coming spring. The new' Welcome to Kitzmiller sign was installed. Julie Wagner will be down at some point to redo the landscaping. Spoke with Ann, and she said there may be more funding available to projects like these but will get back to us after the American Recovery Act This is the grant we have received from the Government in the aftermath of COVID. The regulations and guidelines are still being finetuned and until they are 100% sure as to what the funds can be used for, we will not touch the money. We do however know that this money can benefit non-profit organizations in our community. Once we know what/how it can help them, the organization will have to fill out an application and submit it to the council for approval. Will be Street Lights - Potomac Edison came down and fixed the lights that needed to be fixed. (3 in the park, 1 at Shawna and' William's, 1 at Tim Wilt's, & the one next to the Community Building.) The Fire Department is doing Drive-Thru treats with Santa on Friday, December 10th, 20211 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Diane Nye-Paugh motioned that there should be a committee for Old Fashioned Christmas (that she will chair) and that we should have Old Fashioned Christmas on December 10th to coincide with the Fire Department. Well Connected Communities - Landscaping at the new' Welcome to Kitzmiller sign has been completed.. Justin Nesselrodt is to give us an estimate on Maintaining the landscaping. Thei tables will be delivered on December 17th. Councilman G. Michael Brady willl be delivering them. The new STEAM cart has been delivered to the library for use, andi it looks awesome! The swings, paint, and chains are all here, waiting to install next spring. Heather Berg, who helps with the funding, is still trying to American Recovery Act = Nothing is certain yet with what these funds can be spent on. However, Mayor Reckart stated that at the monthly Mayor Meeting, it was disclosed that the Fire Department willl be able to benefit from this grant. Every municipality in the county will be donating a portion of thet funds to their Fire Departments. The grant is almost completed. LED Lights -Itv was a no go for the Grant. Mayor Reckart did receive a call from Potomac Edison to go over the lights with him. Hopefully doing a walk through, they willl be able to come up with as solution to help the town save money on the Street Christmas Pole Lights - As of today, we need $0.83 to complete the payment for the new lights. They are to ship on November 29th, we have the bucket truck scheduled for Dec. 3rd to get the put up. Ift they do not come by the end of the week, we are: scheduled to possibly get it on the 10th to get them up before the evening before Old Fashioned Christmas. Tree at Don's House - The power company will be dropping the tree. When they do, the town and/or the resident willl be Postage - Stamps.com has been set up. Beccie willl let everyone know how it works, after the next newsletter. Building on Union Street - It's been turned over to the Code Enforcer, so this can no longer be discussed. Old Fashioned Christmas - It willl be on December 10th & December 11th. December 10th- The library will start the day off with their Open House opening from 10A1 to 3P. The Fire Department will have their Drive-Thru Treats with Santa. Activities at thes school will begin at 6P and go until 8P. The Lions Club will have refreshments in the Kitchen. The library will have a place set up for Ornament Making. Santa's Workshop will bei ini the cafeteria. Kitzmiller Assembly of God willl be making placemats. The Empowerment group will be selling bows, giving away 3 door prize baskets. December 11th-S Storytime with Santa at the coal Bucket, then Community Caroling to follow. Barb will serve treats after for those that participate. There will also be a light contest. Anyone and everyone can vote, as many times as they want. Call thet town hall or contact a council member to sign up. The point of the light contest is to encourage everyone to participate ini the decorating, and make the kids say "Wow." It will run from December 10th to December 20th.
