MINUTES  Forney Parks and Recreation Board Wednesday, August 21, 2024  1.TRAINING PRESENTATION FOR NEW MEMBERS  2. CALL: MEETINGTOORDER  The meeting was called to order at 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in the Council Present were Commissioners: Cory Wiggins, Alexa Beasley, Deidra Henry, Diane McPherson, Shanada Hammons, and Morgan Waits. Absent was Commissioner Obed Centeno. Also present from staff were. Jon' Thatcher - City Attorney, Kyle Rouvaldt - Parks and Recreation  Chambers, City Hall, 101 El Main Street, Forney, Texas.  Director, and Andrea Lyons - Administrative, Assistant. INVOCAIONPLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE  Commissioner Wiggins delivered thel Invocation and led the! Pledge of Allegiance.  4. OPEN FORUM None.  5.D DISCUSS AND CONSIDER APPOINMENT OF ACHAIRPERSON  Commissioner Beasley made ai motion to appoint Commissioner Cory" Wiggins to Chairperson. The motion was seconded by Commissioner McPherson. The motion carried. Ayes (6): Commissioners: Beasley, McPherson, Wiggins, Henry, Hammons, Waits  Nays (0): None  Absent (1): Commissioner: Centeno  6.D DISCUSS. AND CONSIDER APPOINMENT OF AVICE-CHAIRPERSON  Commissioner McPherson made ai motion to appoint Commissioner. Alexa Beasley to Vice-  Chairperson.  The motion was seconded by Chair Wiggins. The motion carried. Commissioner Beasley made ai motion to approve thei item with no changes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner McPherson. The motion carried. Discuss Forney Recreational Sports and Fall Sports  Director Rouvaldt provided update about successful Spring baseball/softball season with no direction forthcoming from the Board. He also briefed the new commissioners about the youth and adult sports  that are coordinated by the City of Forney Sport's Recreation department. 8.II. Discuss Northside Park Master Plan & Feasibility Study  Director Rouvaldt provided a brief summary of the Master Planj process for the new commissioners as well as prompted the Board to start thinking about ideas for potential Northside Park master plan.  9.DEPARTMENTI REPORT  Parks and Recreation Update Upcoming Special Events Recreational Opportunities 10. BOARDCOMMUNICATION L.ADJOURNMENT  Director Rouvaldt presented the updates as noted.  Chair Wiggins adjourned the meeting at 7:41 p.m.  PASSED AND.
