July 15, 2024 Page Two COMMENTS OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE AND SAFETY: Regarding the May trade mission trip to Europe by Mr. Titterington and Mr. Graves, Executive Director of the Troy Development Council, Mr. Titterington provided an update, commenting that in seven days they met with 23 persons from 16 companies, they were in six countries, traveled on numerous planes, trains and automobiles, and made at two hour presentation to members of the Southern Sweden Chamber of Commerce. He further commented that two companies are currently involved in expansion in Troy and City representatives will be meeting in the next few weeks with representatives of two companies that are interested in investing in the Ohio area. Mr. Titterington further commented that company representatives stated appreciation for the diversity in economic development that can be found in Troy and that European and Asian companies are welcomed. Members of Council commented on how intense the trip was and -Mrs. Snee thanked the citizens who attended the July 13 open meeting hosted by the Councimembersa-laye. -Mrs. Snee thanked the members of the City Beautification Committee who volunteer their time to make the City -Mr. Severt also thanked the citizens who attended the open meeting on July 13, stated that several comments received have been passed on toi the City administration, and noted that comments included requesting more police presence at Boyer Park and finding ways to post tips regarding appropriate and safe river usage as the Great Miami COUNCIL PRESIDENT COMMENTS: Mr. Rozell stated he has received compliments about the. July 4 Fireworks. Market Street. Also attending the meeting were Mayor Oda, Council Members Phillips and' Westfall, the Director of Crafted & Cured started in 2016, originally located on Wayne Avenue in downtown Dayton. The business offers charcuterie, sixty tap beers, ciders, meads, boutique wines, champagnes, cocktails, whiskeys, bourbons, artisanal meats, cheese, and accoutrement. In addition, lunch offerings consisting of soups, salads, and sandwiches will be available for dine-in and carry-out. Crafted & Cured had operated through a lease in the former US Bank building, located at 8S. Market Street. That operation has been successful, the owners recently purchased the building at 8 S. Market Street, and the owners are now seeking a newl loani fromi the City to purchase additional equipment toi further the Troy operation. Loan collateral will be a second position on the building, and aj personal guarantee by both owners. The owners estimate that a total of 13 new. jobs (8 full-time, 5 part-time) will be created over a three-year period. Also attending the meeting were Mayor Oda, Council Members Snee and Pierce, the Director of Public Service The project area is approximately 1,400 lineal feet along South Stanfield Road from West Stanfield Road to the North property line of 20S. Stanfield Road, with an alternate bid to include north to the Meijer Shopping Center entrance. The project scope includes roadway reconstruction; missing gap sidewalks and shared use path construction; and curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement. The roadway will remain at three-lane cross section that includes a center turn lane, missing gap sidewalks on the east side, and a shared use path on the west side. Council recently declared as a necessity the construction of the sidewalks and shared use path; property owners were notified of the estimated assessments; and no The Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) approved a grant to partially fund the project in the amount of $600,000. Funds were included in the 2024 budget from the OPWC Fund and Capital Improvement Fund, as well as Stormwater, Water and Sewer Funds for related elements of the project. A total of $1,500,000 was budgeted. Due to the recent bidding climate, the engineering firm designing the project is now estimating the cost of $1,795,000, including contingency funds.
