Borough of Sykesville Special Council Meeting July 19, 2021 A special meeting of the Sykesville Borough Council was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance by President Michele Yamrick. In attendance were: Michele Yamrick, President; Elaine Fike, Vice President; Council Members Kurt Kister, Ron Morris, and Don Zimmerman. Absent were President ProTem Nate Alvetro, Mayor Gail Cunningham and Solicitor Nicholas Gianvito. Visitors: No visitors. President Michele Yamrick informed Council that Jim Schieps and Marc Skarbek were at the office last week working on applying for the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) Program. The application needs to be turned in by July 31st. The Borough must contribute 30% of the total funds that are met which the Borough gave a dollar figure of $225,000. The total cost for paving various roads (S. Park St., Memorial Park Dr., Station St., Paradise Rd., and Willow Alley) is President Yamrick presented a resolution that will need to be signed (by Secretary Neale) requesting for the MTF grant of $195,983 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to be used for the paving of Borough roads. A motion was made by Councilman Ron Morris and seconded by Councilman Kurt Kister to approve the cost of $195,983 and allow Secretary Neale to sign the resolution requesting this grant from the Commonwealthn Financing Authority. A motion was made Councilman Kurt Kister and seconded by Vice President Elaine Fike to approve the 30% ($58,494.90) that the Borough pays be split four ways (Borough, Water, Sewer, and Liquid Fuels). Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Ron Morris and seconded by Councilman Kurt Kister to approve the $100 application fee for the Multimodal Transportation $195,983. Motion carried.
