MINUTES Troy Recreation Board Meeting Wednesday, August 21, 2024 4:00 p.m. Hobart Arena Members Present: Marty Hobart, President; Tom Dunn, Vice President; Ashley Reed, Secretary and Lindsy Fisher. Eric Herman. Members Absent: Others Present: Kenneth Siler, Director of] Recreation and Carrie Slater, Assistant Director of] Recreation. The meeting was called to order by the President of the Recreation Board, Marty Hobart. The minutes ofthe. July 17,2024 Troy Recreation Board meeting were: read. It was moved by Mr. Dunn and seconded by Mrs. Fisher that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. The Director informed the board that Float Troy reservations will be coming to an end in a couple ofweeks. September 7th is the last date. Reservations are down slightly compared tol last year. They have gone well overall. All Treasure Island concerts are over for the year. They all had decent attendance. The July 4th concert was impacted al little by weather. All summer recreation programs are: finished at this point. Fall soccer started this past weekend. All summer The Director also informed the board that this weekend the Veterans Symposium will take place ini the arena all day Saturday. It will end with a free concert at 6:00 p.m. by Lee Greenwood. It isi intended for vendors to provide information on services that are available to veterans. The Director met with Veteran Services to go through final details. There will be ai non-ice event added to the schedule. Itis the Irish Dance event that is held every year in October, which will be on the Saturday and Sunday following the Zach Williams concert on October 10th. The Director informed the board the arena maintenance staffi is continuing to doi maintenance projects as they typically do in the month of August. The Dehumidifier project will be about 99% done by the end ofthe day tomorrow. The only thing they have to come back and do is some final connections to duct detectors that will tie into the fire alarm system. They are waiting on final permit approvals related to the paperwork. They should be done and out oft the arena tomorrow. The Director reminded the board that hei is currently working with MSA Architects on a feasibility study related to the pool. The Director met with the Patrick Titterington, Service and Safety Director this morning regarding the study SO that he can take into account some information related to future capital improvement planning and also when budgets are discussed within the next two to three weeks. Mr. Hobart congratulated Ken and Carrie on a good swimming season. The board reviewed 2025 proposed budgets for Hobart Arena, Recreation Department, Recreational Programs and Troy Aquatic Park. It was moved by Mr. Hobart and seconded by Mr. Dunn to approve the proposed 2025 budgets for Hobart Arena, Recreation Department, Mr. Hobart informed the board that this is the 75th anniversary ofthe arena. He asked that everyone let him know of any suggestions they have to celebrate the occasion.
