Borough of Sykesville Reorganization and Council Meeting January 3, 2022 The reorganization and regularly scheduled meeting of the Sykesville Borough Council was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance by Mayor Gail Cunningham. In attendance were: Nathan Alvetro, Elaine Fike, Kurt Kister, Gabriel Sweka, and Michele Yamrick; Borough Secretary Jaysa Neale. Visitors present at the meeting were: Brian Williams (Crew Foreman) and Ron Morris. ELECTIONS & APPOINTMENTS: Mayor Gail Cunningham opened up the meeting welcoming and congratulating all members of Council. Mayor Cunningham started the meeting Counciwoman Elaine Fike nominated Michele Yamrick. Mayor Cunningham then proceeded with a roll call vote to nominate Michele Yamrick as President. Councilwoman Yamrick voted yes, Councilman Alvetro voted yes, Councilman Sweka voted yes, Councilman Kister voted yes, and Counciwoman Fike voted off with nominations for President. yes. Motion carried to make Michele Yamrick President. President Michele Yamrick takes over meeting. President Yamrick entertained a roll call vote for Vice President. President Yamrick nominated Elaine Fike, Councilman Alvetro voted yes, Councilman Sweka voted yes, Councilman Kister voted yes, Counciwoman Fike voted yes, and President Yamrick voted yes. Motion carried to make Elaine Fike Vice President Yamrick entertained a roll call vote for President ProTem. Vice President Fike nominated Councilman Alvetro, Councilman Alvetro voted yes, Councilman Sweka voted yes, Councilman Kister voted yes, Vice President Fike voted yes. and President Yamrick voted yes. Motion carried to make Nathan Ar motion was made by Vice President Fike and seconded by Councilman Sweka to retain Brian Mowrey as Vacancy Board Chair. Motion carried. A motion was made by Vice President Fike and seconded by Councilman Kister toretain Jaysa Neale as the Open Records Officer. Motion carried. President. A motion was made by Councilman Sweka and seconded by President ProTem Alvetro to retain JHA Companies as the Borough's Engineering Firm. Motion Ar motion was made by President ProTem Alvetro and seconded by Vice President Fike to retain Nicholas Gianvito as Solicitor. Motion carried. carried. A motion was made by President ProTem Alvetro and seconded by Councilman Sweka to retain Sharkey, Piccirillo, Keen, & Hanzely LLP as auditor. Motion carried. Ar motion was made by President ProTem Alvetro and seconded by Councilman Kister to retain Farmer's National Bank as Sykesville Borough's Bank. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Kister and seconded by Councilman Sweka tore retain President Michele Yamrick, Vice President Elaine Fike, and President ProTem Nathan Alvetro as signatories for all Sykesville Borough accounts. DATES AND TIMES FOR 2022 COUNCIL MEETINGS: A motion was made by Councilman Sweka and seconded by Vice President Fike to hold and advertise the regular Borough Council meetings the first and third Monday at 7:00 P.M. for January-April and seplember-December and to have one meeting a month, the first Monday at 7:00 P.M., for the months of May, June, July, & August. If the meeting day falls on a holiday, then the meeting day will be on the following day (Tuesday). Motion carried. 2 VISITORS CONCERNS: No visitor concerns. OLD BUSINESS: Ar motion to approve December 20, 2021 minutes and December 27,2021 special minutes was made by President ProTem Alvetro and seconded by Vice President Fike. Motion carried. CREW FOREMAN REPORT: Nothing to report. NEW BUSINESS: President Yamrick presented to Council a "Thank You" card from Nathan Alvetro and family thanking everyone for their donation (and kindness) for the Fire Councilman Kister informed Council that the SCIA meeting is tomorrow and he will discuss the Stahl Park with them and also will invite the SCIA members to Ar motion was made by Councilman Sweka and seconded by President ProTem Alvetro to approve Michael Gamble's paid sick time off for December 22, 2021.
