The County has been doing itt for Columbus and Tryonl Iwill suggest they do an agreement witht them as wellj just like the one I'm doing for Saluda. There is no cost currently and there may not be a cost ata all. The City of Saluda has agreed to; pay Fort the Signage. Nettie Sweet the County won't change our addresses again. Attorney Berg noi it was changed because the county and city didn't match up. 10- Budget and Financial Report Report for May 31, 2024 General Fund: Properly Taxes received of $1,002,782 Sales tax distribution of $196,107 ABC Taxes $3,083 Franchise Taxes reçeived $41,165 Total Revenues are $1,612,787. Expenditures: Administration: No other unusual for the month. Pace Park bathroom items: $4,646 No other major expenses for Cultural and Recreation. 11 payments has been made to First Citizens Bank on City Hall. We will go down later this month to accept that check. And graciously thank them for their donation. All ther money that will goi into phase 2 willl have come from the Carolinal Foothills Foundation. 13-Zoning and Planning Department Report Nothing BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING- 6/10/2024 4 14-A Administration Department Report The ADAI Ramp is being poured hopefully 34 of the ramp willl be poured by Friday. We should have the transition with thet transition piece of playground equipment that will hopefully help some of they younger families ini the community thati feltl like they were neglected, that wasn't the case it was ani issue of safety. Commissioner Marion, maybe we could have some tournaments where you playi in Saluda andi ifyou winy youp play at City Manager Orrt there was a guy that came in about pickleball I said that we would agree to scheduling part he was going to promote that wel had Pickleball courts, and we would agree to! be part of his scheduling as long asi it didn't Commissioner Walker, there is al United States Pickleball Association similar to the United States Tennis Association. They have coordinators that do that kind of scheduling My suggestion is that ift that person isn't affiliated with them, you get someone that is because they do have tournaments and state, regional, and nationai. City Manager Orr we wil geti itmowed on Friday so that itv will be top-notch. 15-Discussion of Coon Dog Day Festival Coon Dog Dayi is going well I'm almost done with the logistical side ofit. Emily, has taken on the huge task of getting thel banners ready. Wel have 34 vendors that includes non-profit and the ones that haven't paid yet. We aren'tgoing to! be ini the red, that's notj just because of the TDA but alsot the vendors and the 5 paid sponsors. We need more volunteers. We will have awards this year. We need to make sure people knowi they need to sign up for the parade, we only have three. Mayor Morgan thanked Emily for all of her work on the Coon Dog! Day event. 16- Cemetery Ordinance Text Amendment Proposal City Manager Orr went over the Issue of Cremations ati the city cemetery. City Manager Orr spoke on maybe making a scattering garden and! having Jana put thati into our ordinance sot that when we get these requests from people that say we just want to scatter themi that we don't want tol be buried we have a provision that we can say the only way to dot thati is thaty you can go tot the scattering garden. It's something thati is done tastefully, it's landscaped with carei that allows us to deal with this because you are dealing witha a sensitive subject your dealing with people's raw emotions ify you don't have iti in writing they tend toi fight. It's nott the best time to discuss with someone when their emotions are that raw andi tell them what they can or can't do with their Commissioner Walker was looking over the Ordinance andr noticed a parti ini the ordinance that talked about tax levy for cemetery maintenance that says noti to exceed .20 cents on a 100.00 valuation oft taxable property. He thought that was too high think not to exceed. .04 on 100.00 so they are going to look over the ordinance and see whatt they loved one. Commissioner Marion made a motion for the commissioners to take the next month to read over the current ordinance and for Attorney Bergto look at other City ordinances on cremations and bring it back to the. July meeting to discuss any changes. Commissioner Walker Seconded all were in favor. 17-7 Tourism Deveiopment Authority- Update Wel had a volunteer appreciation day and cookout two weeks ago. Wél had quite at few people to attend we celebrated our new visitor center director, whichi is Misty Davis. She is doing a great job we felt! like this was a goods send-offi for Lynn Casey who retired from! being our director. Looking forward toi the season, the TDAI is now fully in charge of the visitor's center. We are working through any minori issues we mayl have. 18- Resolution for the City of Saluda E911 Interlocal Agreement. City Manager Orr readi the Resolution. Commissioner Marion made a motion to approve the resolution for the E911 Interlocal Agreement. 19- Resolution to Request al Pubolic Hearing for a Schedule of Fees Adjustment Commissioner Walker seconded all were in favor.
