Regular Meeting July 15,2024 Finance Director Drew Holland presented the Finance Department's Fifth Certificate of Achievement for the. Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. Acknowledging it's the highest achievement that can be received as a Finance Office. Roshanda Manual, Finance Accountant for the American Rescue Planning Program, provided an overview of the Cumberland County Community Development Block Program and the HOME Investment Partnership Program and made herselfavailable for questions OFFICIAL COMMENTS: Mayor Bellflowers read aj prepared statement on Donald Trump assassination attempt. Town Manager Chancer McLaughlin highlighted portions of the managers' report and upcoming community events. Commissioner Scarola asked ift there was any progress on the website. Mr. McLaughlin stated yes, more details would be coming soon. assuring them that staff would diligently research each issue raised. Mayor Bellflowers encouraged citizens to submit their questions and concerns to the Town, Commissioner Scarola announced the Dunk Tank would return to old Mill Days National Night Commissioner Marley expressed his thanks to thel Finance Department fori theirachievement, EMS Out. for their service, Town employees and Public Works Sanitation Department. Commissioner Craver asked about lake buoys. Mr. McLaughin stated he would follow up with Public Works and Parks and Recreation. Commissioner Craver asked about lake attendants being able to wear yellow vests. Mr. McLaughlin stated it would not be an issue to implement yellow safety vests. Commissioner Craver expressed concern about semi-trailer trucks traveling down trade street. Mr. McLaughin stated he would reach out to DOT. Commissioner Craver inquired about the gym's closure until November 12th and asked about the Mr. McLaughlin stated open gym would start November 12th which referred to basketball season. He noted that the gym would remain open and the $2.00 fee was in reference to basketball season. $2 fee upon reopening. Regular Meeting July15,2024 Commissioner Craver asked when the water at the lake would bei tested, and posting results on the Mr. McLauglin stated that the results of the water testing at the lake could be put on the town towns website. website. Mayor Pro Tem Dr. McCray stated it was aj joy to work with everyone and serve the community. Mayor Bellflowers expressed how the staff worked well together serving the community. Mr. McLaughlin stated that was possible but did not change the initial concern Commissioner Craver asked if the applicant could still build with the height restrictions in place. Fire Chief Matthew Cain stated that historically was the setup. Police Chief Stephen Dollinger provided update on the status oft the trainings. Acquisition, and NCGS 143-318.11 (a)(6) Personnel. At 10:20 p.m. Mayor Bellflowers called the regular meeting back to order. Motion made by Mayor Pro Tem. Dr. McCray, seconded by Commissioner Marley, and carried unanimously, to seal the minutes of the closed. session until. such time as the release ofthe information would no longerfrustrate the purpose ofthe closed. session and further no action was taken.
