Regular Meeting August 19,2024 PUBLIC COMMENTS: Ronald King a resident at 5566 Hallwood Drive, spoke to the ongoing flooding issues that his street experiences and the reoccurring expenses that result from those occurrences. He implored the Board of Commissioners to look into a potential remedy for himself and the neighbors of Dr. Terra Jordan, a resident at 4500 Black Stallion Court, expressed her desire to run for the Grilley Mitchell, a resident of of 4056 William Bill Luther Drive, spoke in support of the Town Mayor Bellflowers reiterated the points made by Mr. Mitchell regarding storm preparedness and also spoke in support oft the staff. He also requested that the Town inspect Hallwood Drive. Debra Locklear a resident ofl Hope Mills spoke in opposition ofincreased fees for seniors to play Hallwood Drive. "END OF CONSENT AGENDA" OLD BUSINESS: None DISCUSSION: Regular Meeting August 19,2024 Hope Mills Disaster Recovery Response Action Plan Overview Town Manager McLaughlin walked through the process ofhow the Town ofHope Mills manages any type of natural disaster and the corresponding emergency operations. He reiterated the need for coordination between several departments and other local government agencies, outlined the chain of events from the Monday before Tropical Storm Debby until the day of the storm, commended staff for how they handled the preparation, and made himself available for any Mayor Bellflowers echoed the comments made by the Town Manager and called for any additional Commissioner Craver expressed conçerns for flooding at Deaver Circle and other areas within the town, as well as spoke to additional barriers being dispersed in order to prevent residents from compromising situations that may damage their vehicles during natural disasters. Mr. McLaughlin noted that Deaver Circle was not a road owned or maintained by the Town and that DOT had the location included in al list ofupcoming projects that they planned to fund. questions. questions or comments from the board.
