Approval of: a) Approval of minutes: Members reviewed and approved the minutes for the. July 13, 2020 meeting. Grady Hester made thei motion to approve thei meeting minutes; CB b) CPT Fees-COVID Specimen Collection: The Board reviewed the proposed specimen collection fees authorized tol bel billed for uninsured and insured clients which help to cover the cost ofCOVID testing. Jerry Townson made the motion to approve COVID specimen collection fees as presented; Grady Hester seconded the motion. The motion Health Directors Job Description: The Health Director presented his job description for annual review and approval. It was: noted that the description is reflective of the requirements of the health department and the NC General Statute. No changes were deemed necessary as the description is reflective ofcurrent duties. The: motion carried. Health Director Comments: a) The departmental reports for Clinic, Lab, FLI and Environmental Health were provided tot the Board for review. The Health Director provided an update on opening back up normal clinical services after a slow down due to July COVID testing with the exception of Maternal Health Services. Wea also discussed the increased demand for septic and well services and permit applications for July and August are the highest wel have seen in years. The health director also provided an update on Kim McClain's retirement at the end of September and how our plans to transition Jennifer Wilson havel been completed. Cherokee County Health Department Board ofl Health 9/14/2020 b) The Health Director and the Board had discussion around COVID-19 and the departments work to date on: responding to COVID-19 within Cherokee County. The Board discussed the ongoing strategy for working with long-term care facilities due to ongoing outbreaks and the sudden increase in COVID related deaths over the past week. The Board also discussed the ongoing work with schools surrounding COVID and how that has played out during the first month ofs school opening. Finally, thel Board discussed the future challenges this fall with influenza and COVID and the departments strategy for managing both concurrently.
