Also present were Harold Rice, Tanya Torres, Chief Mike Cantu, Patsy Scherer, Fire Chief Mark Mendez, Michael Martinez, Angel De La Cruz, Adolf Trigo, Briana Dominguez, Melissa Pompa, Pete Gaytan, Josie Gaytan, Jesse Martinez, Paul Aguirre, Judge Daryl Becker, Clayton Kelley, and Eddie Escobar. He gave statistics about the City of Nixon. The City of Nixon has a population of 2358 per the 2020 Census and of that population, 11.3%, which is approximately 97 families live in poverty, 12% of our children, and 19% of our senior population also live in poverty. He is asking the City Council if they would be interested in pursuing a food bank for the city. He would also bring in Mr. Obledo who is the chief government liaison for the San Antonio food bank to schedule a workshop with the council. The motion was made by. Feather Fest on Cinco de Mayo is going along well. LCRA brought in the mics for the Fire Department, and they are certified. The Fire department is the only one in the county that has both radios and mics that are certified.
