He explained that they are back requesting to recreate the façade oft the Belk building. Mr. Naziri stated that he spoke tol his brick mason and they have decided to replace the broken bricks with brick as much as they can and rebuild the façade oft the building with brick. He stated that they will be using the mortar mix for some of the: smaller areas and dents where brick could not be used. Mark Everett asked about an elevation drawing oft the building. Mr. Naziri stated that he didn't feel an elevation drawing would show the quality of his mason's work, so he included actual photos of his previous projects. Mr. Naziri explained the project in more detail. William Kenner stated that if Mr. Naziri is repairing the brick with brick then the request would basically be al Minor' Work/Repair. Kathleen Couch asked if he was going to try and match the brick. Mr. Naziri stated that they have found Street. 1 the correct size brick, so it would match in size. He explained that it willl be very difficult to match the color because the façade is sO old and the mortar mix would be a different color as well. He stated that was the reason why after doing thel brick repair they wished to paint the façade and have a uniform look. Mr. Naziri stated that the other sides oft the building have already been painted, the front façade is the only side that has not been painted. He explained that he would like to paint the entire building sO that it will have a uniform look. William Kenner spoke about the type of paint that should. be used. Emily Rebert stated that the Guidelines do not regulate paint color or types. Mr. Naziri explained in more detail what they will be removing and fixing on that front façade. He stated that he was not sure ift they could bring it back to the original façade from 200 years ago. He showed pictures of what he envisioned for the storefronts. Kathleen Couch asked what color Mr. Naziri planned to paint the building. Mr. Naziri stated that he was open for suggestions on paint color ori the type of paint from the City. He stated that currently the storefront sits back and over the years it has become some what of a hindrance. He stated that hel believed that the change to the storefront was done within the last 10 years. He stated that they recessed back the storefront to create that area and they would just! like to return it back to its original location. Rebecca Clark asked if Mr. Logelfo knew when they did the construction on the storefront to make it look like what it does now. Mr. Logelfo stated that he would say that it was done within the last 10 years. He explained that Mr. Tomisulo did that when he renovated the building. Mr. Logelfo stated that they have had multiple people dine out in that area and walk away from their bill. He stated that they would like to take that space back as part oft thei interior of the building. He explained that from what he had measured with the modifications done on the building already the actual store frontage would be 5ft ofactual glass that willl be put back in there to allow for the doorway and proper egress. He stated that there will still be a little vestibule to protect people from the rain, but you will not even be visible. He stated that hei is asking fora post review ofs some work that he had recently done at 134 South Market Street. He stated that in the final phase of the remodel at that building they changed the store front from at two-door store front to a single door. He presented pictures oft the new door. He explained that the building was significantly damaged in the previous storm. He: stated that they have owned the building for 20 years and they have been able to keep water from going into the building during storms with sandbags. He explained that they have determined that the water actually broke through the old door at this storefront. He stated that the old doors hadi falling into significant disrepair and went into more detail about the condition of the old doors. He stated that they sustained additional damage during the storm when they broke open. He explained that their primary goal was to repair the building as quickly as they could because they had three businesses ini that building before the storm and those businesses had to relocate. He stated that their primary goal was to get them back into business and back into the building as quickly as they could and the last step was to: secure thet front door of that store front. He explained that they did have a double door from another building in the historic district, buti it wouldn't fit, so they reconfigured the doorway and used just one of the doors from the other building and that is what they have now. Mr. Jennings stated that if you survey that block the new door looks very similar to doors int those store fronts and he personally feelingi it is one oft the better-looking doorways. He stated that they tried to: stayi in keeping with the style and time oft the building but they did switch the door from two to one. Karen Mann stated that she rode by the building today and the door looks nice and looks like an actual retail door. She stated that she noticed that a number of the double doors still there have been sealed off and are not usable.
