Borough of Coraopolis Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Regular Council Meeting via teleconference February 8, 2023 6:30PM The Regular Meeting oft the Borough of Coraopolis was called to order by Council Vice-President Chad Kraynyk. Mr. Kraynyk said before we begin, lwould like to ask for a moment of silence for McKeesport Police Officer Sean Sluganski who was killed in action yesterday. Fire Chief's Report Chief Spencer said for the month of January 2023, the Coraopolis Volunteer Fire Department answered 11 calls with total man hours of 138.39. We also had work done on the fire whistle and kicked it down from three minutes and ten seconds toj just under two minutes and he continued to explain. Mayor's Report Mayor Dixon said on February 26th the Steel City Chapter of DeMolay is hosting a patriots day dinner for veterans. Ifyou are a veteran and would like to get dinner for free you can rsvp to a number that I will share with everyone at the Coraopolis Lodge at 1142 Maple Avenue Ext. in Coraopolis PA. Mayor Dixon read a proclamation pertaining the Black History Month. Committee Reports/Comments from Council Mr. Flasco said as of Friday, we did complete three interviews for the two open positions and have more to come. Mr. Mihalyi said I have nothing this evening. Iwant to thank everyone on Council for a thoughtful discussion last week and she continued to explain. Ihave met with our Solicitor to align on the next steps in following the RFP process and guidelines and want to thank Mr. Start. 3 Ms. Marine said from a communications standpoint èveryone keep an eye out for this month's Allegheny' West Magazine fora a recap of our 2022 and 2023 grant projects. Mr. Pitassi said I the library is busy this month with their homeschool program through February, they will have crafts, cookies and coke on February gth, the Little Explorers Children's Program, Adult reading book bags set up and the Winter Mr. Pitassi said the library was asked to have a computer session in the spring at the Coraopolis Towers, sO anyone who Home Movie Section. wants to get involved int that is more than welcome. Mr. Kraynyk said it was 181 months to 2 years ago that we moved the Engineer Report to the Borough Workshop Meeting. Starting on March gth, we are going to move the Engineer Report back to the Public Meeting and he continued to explain. Manager's Report Mr. McCutcheon said Allegheny County passed an ordinance for paid sick leave for part time employees. Itis Ordinance No, 15-21-OR, Section 2406-A, and if you have more than 26 employees the part time employees are, going to earn one Mr. McCutcheon said the CharWest COG has created a UCC Board and Coraopolis resident Mike Engle willl be sitting on that Board. We will have al hearing coming up: sooni for the old Coraopolis Hardware, sO we are, glad that they finally got Mr. McCutcheon said we are having phone trouble with the 264-3002 phone number. Comments from the Public Vice-President Chad Kraynyk said before opening the meeting to public comments Iwould like to make the following observations and direct that they may be part of the public record. Iti is the public's right to comment at public meetings and is limited to residents oft the Borough or persons who pay taxes to the Borough and that is why we ask each person who desires to comment to give your name and address of the residence of property that you own in the Borough. Each person who seeks to comment is limited to three minutes and comments are limited to matters that are or may be before the Borough. Council Members are not required to answer any questions posed by the members oft the public or engage in any dialog with the comments oft the public. Council Members shall not comment on matters of personnel, discipline or any legal matter. 4 Daniel Hickton of 1318 Vance.
