HANOVER BOROUGH SHADE TREE COMMISSION MINUTES June 3, 2024 Chairman Rohrbaugh convened the meeting of the Hanover Borough Shade Tree Commission at 9:06 AM Monday morning, June 3, 2024 in the Hanover Municipal Building, Attendance: In attendance were Shade Tree Commission members Rohrbaugh and West; staff members Secretary Felix, Public Works Director Grimm and Parks & Recreation Director Purkins; and Matt Leyes from Barlett Tree Experts. Shade Tree Commission Member Mr. Approval of the Minutes: It was moved by Mrs. West, seconded by Ms. Rohrbaugh to 44 Frederick Street, Hanover, Pennsylvania, as advertised. Weaver was not in attendance. approve the minutes of May 6, 2024. Motion carried. Public Comment: None was presented. Tree Removal Public Hearings: It was moved by Mrs. West, seconded by Ms. Rohrbaugh to approve the following tree removals that were recommended for removal at the May 6, 2024 Shade Tree Commission meeting, and were properly advertised for a public hearing for removal by the Public Works Department: 569 Broadway 649 Broadway The tree work willl be placed on the Public Works Department work list for implementation. Motion carried. 19 Brandy Court: A letter was received from the property owner at 19 Brandy Court stating that she wanted her newly planted Black Gum tree removed, since it was not the Mr. Leyes, Bartlett Tree Experts tried to reach out to her but could not reach her. Krimson King trees are no longer recommended for planting since they are steadily dying throughout town and are prone to root rot and canker disease. Grants and sponsorships are needed for further park renovations. Wirt Park and West Hanover Street Park are currently under renovation. Bartlett Tree Experts Report: Mr. Leyes encouraged all to attend the Annual Fall Tree Care Update Workshop that will be held September 5, 2024 at Heritage Hills Resort, Public Works Director Grimm asked for a breakdown of the Shade Tree Commission budget fori the remainder of this year.
