Minutes Keep Simonton Beautiful Committee- - Regular Meeting CITY OF SIMONTON August 5, 2024 This is a true and correct copy of the Minutes of the Keep Simonton Beautiful Committee - Regular Meeting held on August 5, 2024. 1. Call to Order Committee Member/Counci Member Kelli Matula called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. 2. Consider and Take. Action a. Hometown Hero A discussion ensued regarding selection and process of thanking community volunteers for their above-and-beyond efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. It was decided that an internet post wouldbed created for the community to: nominate their neighbors, and a sign would later be placed in the nominees' yards. Annual Meeting b. The Annual Meeting is to take place on September 9, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., with the election of officers transpiring at that meeting. Committee member Kristi Smith stated that she would like to add members, or in the alternative, volunteers. C. Trash Off Committee Member/Counci Member Kelli Matula stated that she would like to use the same announcement flyer as previously used but would like to change the dates and remove the green background. There was: ab briefdiscussion that] Fort] Bend County cannot] provide exactr mowing dates. Committee Member Karen Long continues to contact TxDot regarding the Adopt-A-Highway Program but has noti received ai return call regarding same. The date: for the next' Trash-Offwill be October 6, 2024 at 8:00a.m. d. Decorating our City for Christmas Committee Member/Council Member Kelli Matula proposed November 9, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. to December 13, 2024 at 6:30p.m. was proposed as an evening ofo caroling and 'smores at' ValleyLodge December 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. was chosen as the evening for the judging of the community assemble and display Christmas decorations throughout town. Park. Christmas lights. e. Round Up/Home Tour Community volunteer Erica Molina spoke regarding her conversation with Vincent Morales in connection with the use ofDaily Park for Roundup, and that we: are awaiting ai fee schedule from the Parks and Recreation Department. The availability ofa a covered pavilion, public restrooms, picnic tables, trash pick-up and the cost were very favorable. Committee Member Karen Sabrsula stated that wei need to get serious about marketing andj promotion ofthe event. There was further discussion regarding making ita and evening, family event withj possibly livel bands and/or thel Morgan Elementary School choir. There was also a discussion of] how to obtain additional and new vendors. Committee Member Kristi Smith spoke regarding her efforts to enlist volunteers to show their homes during Home Tour. There was a brief discussion regarding ticket sales and the possibility of using bracelets as proof of purchase oft ticket. Molinas Restaurant will sponsor the jump house, and the Committee will reach out to Simonton Christian regarding crafts. Mutts & Meows and the Lion's Club are under consideration as additional vendors. The Committee chose the design for its flyers and banners. Adjournment 3.
