Land, Jr... Marcus Barber.. DeMarcus Holmes.. Ronald Sample.. Angel McCroskey.. Lequin Hilderbrand. Greg Kelley. Liz Jarrell.. Mayor Council Member Council Member/Absent Council Member Councit Member Councit Member Interim City! Manager City Secretary The meeting was called to order by Mayor Anderson Land at 6:00pm and opened with prayer by Street Superintendent Wade Peek. All the members were present to wit except Council Member Mayor Land then asked for public comments and there was one. Mr. Bob Mahar thanked numerous Mayor Landi then read a card that was received regarding our Building Official Jeremy Chesnutt Amotion was made by Council Member Ronald Sample to approve Resolution No. 2024-3013A resolution of the City Council of Jasper, Texas, requesting membership into the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission Metropolitan Planning Organization. Seconded by Council Member Amotion was made by Council Member Ronald Sample after much discussion, formally proposing a2 2024 propertyt taxi rate of $0.2691 to fund a portion of the 2024-2025 Budget. Seconded by Council Amotion was made by Council Member Ronald Sample to move the Regular Called City Council Meeting from September: 3, 2024, to September 9, 2024, andi to have the public hearing for property taxrates September 9, 2024, at 5:30pm. Seconded by Council Member Marcus Barber. Motion Amotion was made by Council Member, Angel McCrosky1 to change some oft the 2024-2025 working budget. The second motion made by Council Member McCroskey was to use $1,000,000.00 ofthe Cambridge funds tot fund the electric department as needed. Seconded by Council Member Ronald Sample. Motion passed unanimously. There was much discussion regarding the electric rates. Thet third motion was made by Council Member Marcus Barber to use the $1,000,000.00t0 fund the electric department. Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand amended Council Member Barber's motion to propose the: 3-year increment rate increase for the electric rate. Seconded by Council Members then went into executive session at 6:44pm1 for personnel matters to discuss the City Manager and City Attorney. The meeting was reconvened at 7:07pm. Council Member Marcus Barber made ar motion to make Interim City Manager Greg Kelley the City Manager pending his agreement. Seconded by Council Member Ronald Sample. Motion passed unanimously. Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand shared his thoughts on the discussion board that was previously voted on for staff and council members. Council Member Hilderbrand believes ity would havel been a good way to communicate about the budget as well as other things to not constitute as a quorum.
