PENNSYLVANIA STATE GAME COMMISSION PROPOSED ACQUISITIONS IN HOWARD TOWNSHIP On June 27, 2024, Commissioner Mark Higgins received notification from Kenneth Duren, Real Estate and Land Conservation Division Chief, PA Game Commission, Bureau of Wildlife Management, inviting Centre County to provide comments on proposed land acquisitions. The PA State Game Commission proposes to add property to (13) State Game Lands because they contain high value wildlife habitat, improve ability to manage existing land and significantlyi improve publica access. In Howard Township, Russell Howard, LLCis offering 4 tracts in the amount of 210.4 acres to be added to existing SGL 323 in southern Howard Township. The existing SGL 323is is adjacent to land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, Foster Joseph Sayers Lake, and Bald Eagle State Park. The Assistant Planning Director provided comment on the proposed acquisition in relation to County andl local planning resources, notably the Centre County Recreation and Greenway Plan (2009) and the Centre County 2.
